Hawaii enduro
After reading your account of the
Mauna Kea 200 for the past two year
I've decided to give it a try in 1987.
Could you provide me with the following: Name and addre s of sponsoring dub/entry information, and
ome of the alternatives for a. shipping your own bike, b. rellling a
decent bike, c. buying then selling
while in Hawaii, or whatever?
boring, but important i sues be more
like most new paper. That i two
paragraphs maximum per ubjecl. A
wbole page devoted to one editorial
subject in a magazine is even more
boring than sitting out on a ra e
course with a broken bike.

The Maico factory in West Germany resumed production of
motorcycles in mid-November.
With the firm in the hands of receivership, Swedish millionaire Jan
Nordbeck, the Maico importer in
Sweden and the man most people
feel will buy the factory, pointed
out to the receiver that· his offer
would be diminished if Maico lost
a significant part of its 1987 proijuction. England's Trials & Motocross News reports that the
receiver is currently considering
an offer for Maico's street bike
from China. They report that the
Chinese have put in an offer to
purchase tooting and manufacturing rights for Maico's 250cc MDS
street bike.
Steve Cole competed in the Open
lmennediate class at the Barstow-toVegas desert race and finished second.
His name was left out of the official
results we ran with our coverage of
the race.
Spencer Singleton, brother of twotime Daytona 200 winner Dale
Singleton who died in a plane crash
two years ago, is looking into the
feasibility of producing a video-·
tape which would cover Dale's
career both on and off the track. "I
even have footage of Dale singing
'The Ballad of Elmer' la song about
Dale's mascot, Elmer the pigl at
Daytona several years ago," said
Singleton. "If enough people express interest in purchasing such a
tape, I'll produce it and have it
ready by Daytona Cycle Week next
March." If you're interested, drop
Spencer a line at 1046 Keith Mill
Rd., DaJton, GA 30720.
