Over 200 riders, representing II states, were on hand for the event. The first 250cc Pro .moto started out with a bang as Robbie Taylor and Gerald Wood shared the holeshot and tried to occupy the same line through the first two turns. Their handlebar banging ended in a crash as the pair exited the second turn. T,!ylor was shaken-up and DNF but Wood remounted for an eventual seventh place finish. Meanwhile, Barr took the lead and opened up a good lead. Liles and Hannah worked their way through traffic, and by the fourth lap, they had secured the second and third place slots, respectively, and were· closing the eight-second lead held by Barr. One lap later, Barr found himself in third as the Liles/Hannah duo moved to the front. Liles held on in the remaining three laps to win over Hannah, Barr and jeff Hicks. On the green light start of the final, Iwanaga was off the pole like a shot and had the inside line at the first corner. While others were banging and bumping in the traffic Iwanaga was setting up to pull away from second placer P.]. Sanchez. All the racers were a bit on edge anyway for the race had to be restarted after Sanchez, Steven Raymond and Robert Damron all went down in the first· corner. . All made it back to the grid and it was Sanchez who came of( the crash with the greatest desire to win.lwanaga was pitching his Gilroy-based Honda four-stroke machine into the corners a considerable distance prior to the corner and was reaping dual benefits from that race plan. He was eHectively blocking the groove by !:Ieing sideways and he was also able to square of( the turn and accelerate more quickly that he would have been able to using a later entry into the corner. The sponsors of Iwanaga - Lee Racing, T.I. Landscaping, Richard Braquet Racing and Gilroy Honda - must be quite proud of their racer [or he has been the winningest Expert in the High PointSeries promoted by R&D Enterprises.
