Twelve competitors lined the starting gate at the start of the first moLO, and when it was all over, Yamaha rider Doug Dubach came out on LOp over sucb rider as Suzuki's Mike Healey, Yamaha-mounted pilots Jeff Mabery and Rus Wageman. The first moLO wa totally dominated by Dubach who stole the holeshot and led for the next 15 laps for t~le wire..to~wire win. Dubach, Healey and Wa~eJllan finished in the LOp three, whIle Mabery and Heinrich rounded out the LOp five. Dubach took command of the rGlce early in the second moLO ahead of Ortner, Mabery, Healey, Luther French and Jerry Black. By the end of the fir t lap, Ortner had dropped back LO fourth giving second and third LO Mabery and Healey. oon after, He-dley set his sights 00 Mabery and passed the Yamaha rider for the second-place position. Healey chased Dubach throughout the rest of the moLO but couldn't catch the highflying Dubach. Dubach went on LO win his second mOlD of the day ahead of Healey, Mabery, Wageman and Ortner. Dubach also claimed the overall victory in the l25cc Pro class with a 1-2 combination. Dubach led from stan 10 finish in the first moLO over Healey, Bader Manneh, Scott Brown and Kyle Lewis. Dubach took an second-place start in the first moLO only to crash and drop back to eighth. This gave the lead to Brown, who was quickly passed by Lewis. Lewis led the race down lD the checkered flag, while Dubach worked his way up to second; good enough for the overall vicLOry. Manneh wound up taking third for third overdll. Stith steals Timonium Short Track By Len Breech TIMO IUM, MD, OV.15 Todd Stith sailed to a wire-towire short track victory in the 125cc class, today, in ide the Timonium Fairground, beating Suzuki rider Dave Duhaine and Joe Bromley. Stith breezed through his heat and semi LO take the pole position in the final. He was first out of the second turn with Duhaine, John Klein, JeH Webber and Bromley close behind. After thre laps, Webber moved into third and tried to nudge his way by Duhaioe for second, only to stall in the second turn. With about five laps left, Stith put a lapped rider between hi mseU and the close battle for second, as Bromley moved up to pressure Klein for third. At the finish, it was Stith easily winding up with the win followed by Duhaine and Bromley. Rob Smith made the most of being the only rider on the fir t line in the 360cc final, as he jumPed out to a . two-length lead and never looked back. Chopper Rowe, Charlie Majeski and Jim Hollister battled for second during most of the race. Majeski dropped LO fifth when he collided with a lapped rider around halfway. Hollister tried to find an opening, but Rowe blocked perfectly for the final five laps. After getting caught for jumping last week, Rodney Farris' start in tonight's final was conservative, as Todd Kendig, Steve Burkholder and, Paul Crumling were right on his tail coming off the second turn in tbe 250cc Pro final. It wasn't until the halfway mark that he had a lillIe breathing room. Burkholder passed Kendig for second around the IOtb lap, giving him his best-ever finish. Results 80: 1.
