Polen andGhivington taste victory atRoadAtlanta.
Suzukicelebrates the GrandFinale
ofthe1986 GSX-RNational Cup Series.
It was the best of times. Over
60 GSX-R riders from all across the
country came to Road Atlanta to
compete for $40,000 in prize
money. Friends and family came
to share the excitement. And Doug Polen and
Dan Chivington came away the winners.
Chivington passed Polen and Ron Ewerth
on the last comer of the last lap to win the
1100 final and $6,000. The remaining $14,000
went to the next 13 riders.
But Polen, wearing No.2, tried harder and
won the 750 final and $5,000. The
remaining $15,000 wentto the
next 19 riders.
That was the idea all year long.
To spread the wealth: $285,000
total prize money to encourage and develop
new riders. And reward the stars.
Plus, the top three riders in each class at
Road Atlanta were honored with National Cup
trophies. A great finish to a very good year.
Now we look ahead to 'f!!1. Right around
the comer.
Right on, Suzuki
