In moLO one, Young led all the way with Ethridge applying pressure from second. The tables were turned in moto two as Ethridge took the lead at turn one. Young started seventh but eventually worked his way through traffic to challenge Ethridge's lead. In the final turn on the last lap, Young gOI by 10 win with a perfect score. "I really wanted that win," said Ethridge, "but Young had me psyched out and I made a mistake at the lasl moment." In fierce I 25cc C action, KlouiGearbacked Brad Jimison took over the first moLO lead after getting by Tommy Bilz and Gabe Gaddis. Paul Cline, supported by an enthusiastic cheering sect..ion, moved up from fifth pot and, on the last lap. slipped past J imison for the. win. MoLO two saw Marc Waddle in commandofthe lead until Cline took over and won. Waddle's 5-2 tally netted third overall behind Jimi on and Cline. In the series standings, Cline's perfect score moved him into the runner-up slot, one point over WaddIe. Jimison won the series b¥ a narrow seven-point margin over Cline. The opening 250cc C moLO saw Waddle lead Jimison in close tandem alllhe way to the checkered. In moLO two, Jimison showed the way with Waddle following closely until the lasl lap when the pair collided. Jimi on fell and Waddle took Ihe win 10 nel a perfro score. Jimison remounled to finish 2-2. Jimison earned the eries championship by a comfortable margilT' over Waddle and Michael Henderson. L,se titles decided at Westhampton Motocross By Rick Golden WESTHAMPTON, Y, OCT. 25 Going into the day's racing aL WesLhampLon, no less than six class LiLIes would be decided at the final MX of Lhe Long Island Sports Commillee season. The biggest sprC'ad was seven points in Ihe Open Amateur and the Senior Mini c1asse~. In the Open division, Ed Markstaller clinched the series title by scoring the overall win over . last year's winner, SCOII Nickerson. Markstaller had taken a two-year break from racing before coming back and winning his class this year. In the Senior Mini class, last year's number one rider BreLL Marascia made a valiant effort torepeatagainstJason Rivas who was the runner-up in '85. Mal'ascia notched Ihe win in the first moLO with Rivas finishing fourth. But Rivas came back to win tbe second mOIO and clinch the class title. In tiie nior Amateur class, Jim Breiner held a six-point lead over Dwi~ht Covell who put on a real charge and took the overall win on the day.
