"The best thing about DIRT RIDER is· the obj~ctivity of the road tests and the fact that you can use them later for reference." -Bob Maynard Name: Bob Maynard Occupation: President, Hallman Racing USA . Company Description: "We primarily manufacture motocross apparel and safety-related equipment, which we distribute worldwide." Ridi"g history: "I was playing college football when the local Honda dealer came down with four dirt bikes and wanted to take a picture of the starting backfield sitting on them. 1 had never been on a motorcycle. They showed me how to start it and 1 ran around the practice field. 1 needed a job to get through school, so 1 said to the dealer, 'Why don't you let me sell these things for you?' 1 fmished my education and taught one semester of biology, but 1 was ma l6ng more money on weekends selling motorcycles. My boss asked me to manage one of his Honda dealerships and I've never been back in the classroom. When 1 qutt playing football 1 got into racing. 1 rode the first Baja 1000 in 1969 on a motorcycle and have also raced it cars, winning my class several times with both vehicles. It was, while racing that 1 met my partner, Torsten Hallman, a four-time World Champion." m Magazine: "The best thing about DIRT RIDER is the objec- • tivity of the "road tests and the fact that you can use them later for reference. You can go back and compare the performance of different machines and have something statistical to look at tnstead of just a quote saying, 'Hey, that bike handles so great!' You can refer back to the weight, the suspension travel or the torque and horsepower curves, and that's unlike all the other I • magazines, which just give you some rider's opinion. DIRT RIDER is much more objective in that respect." ~ 00 O'l
