said. "The firsl and second loops,
and the firsl half of loop three, were
fun - but the second half of loop
three was awful. h was rocky, bumpy
·and dusty. h was a good third loop
-it was justloo bad il was third and
we were tired!"

"I noticed the spokes were hilling
coming out of loop lWO, so I was
riding prelly easy bUllrying to keep a
good pace going," said Naylor. "I
was really babying il lrying LO save

Like Gerber, Na)'lor was compeling in only his second Tdce in lhe
championship series, and had finished his first race in second place
behind Smith - in round six of lhe
competilion at Reno, Nevada.
