Yamaha TY360-mounted Todd'Roper cleaned this wet section and went on to finish f'lfth in the Expert cia.. during C.A.T. trials at Wolf Creek. after this third place finish in the first moto. He came outlast and fell twice but finished within five seconds of Hoenshell and Hawthorne who were separated by only a bike length. In the second moto, Hawthorne grabbed the holeshot again and led for four laps until Upshaw passed him for a lead he would not relinquish. With Upshaw in the lead, Hoenshell pushed hard, knowing a second would give him the overall win. But Hawthorne would have .none of that, as he held on to second place and Hoenshell had to settlefor third. Carroll Richardson had to settle for fourth place in each moto and fourth overall. Saum cleans Wolf Creek Trials By Daryl Drake WOLF CREEK, AZ, SEPT. 28 Andy Saum scored another win on his Yamaha at Central Ari: zona Trials, Inc.'s Wolf Creek Trial, today. Three loops through nine sections composed of tricky rocks and slippery creek bed made up the route, and Saum turned in a score of just 29. Joe Alsworth was second Expert at 44 ahead of Keith Roper at 49, both on Yamahas. Montesa-mounted Greg Jones. was fourth at 55, and Todd Roper was fifth on a: Yamaha. In the Advanced class, Mark Makarov and his Honda cleaned up with low score of 58 and a .!I5 point margin over Charl~ King (Yamaha).
