Veteran John Long (42) won the Formula One race. Defending champ Martin Morrison (1) was second. while David Reed (128) DNF. Mosley a distant fifth. Jeurink and Clark hooked up in a tight race and they were joined by Beasley. On the white flag lap it was Clark with the lead. but the checkered flag was jeurink back in front for the win and title, with Beasley taking- second over Clark. Tosten finished fourth with Mosley fifth. The Novice Formula Two race would provide jacks with his second ticket to the winner's circle. Beasley led at Ihe start but pulled out of the race at the horseshoe turn on the second lap. Paul Bray held the lead over jacks, Tom Kipp, Tosten and Pat Harris on the third lap, but jacks took over for good on the next lap. Bray followed jacks home to take second with Kipp . coming in third, followed by Slack and Harris. It was all jimmy Adamo in the combined Supertwins race for Experts and Novices as the Cagiva 650 rider scored a wire-to-wire win in the seventh race of the day. By the second lap of the day Adamo and Bimota 750-mounted Malcolme Tunstall were wheel-to-wheel ahead of BMW-mounted Bert Stuckert. During the third lap it began to rain and the race was red flagged. The race was restarted with the starting order being the original grid positions. On the restart it was again Adamo and Tunstall running one-two but this time Adamo quickly opened up a lead on the Bimota rider. be chang's run in fourth before the restart went down the tubes when he fried his Mota Guzzi's clutch on the restart. Adamo went on to win the race and championship with Tunstall taking second ahead of johnson and Stuckert. Stuckert had dosed on Johnson but his shot at third came too late. Frank Shockley worked his way up to fifth at the finish aboard a Triumph 750. Harley-Davidson rider Robert Ronchetto took the Novice win, sixth overall, while Ducati-mounted David Hudson was second Novice. "It got a little wet out there," said Adamo in the winner's circle. On the third lap Blackwell c1osedon Leppclmeit'rcomingoff the east banking and used Ihe sling-shot to go around for the lead. Cam Roos led the ovices over Bootie Ballard and Mark Long-. The lead swapped b'lck and forth with Blythe, Leppelmeier, Lowman and Blackwell "II g-oing for il. Lowman went on the DNF list when he lost it in thedoglegand Robert Willis and Frank Fillingham replaced him plus one as they joined the battle up front. The final moments of the exciting race saw Leppelmeier and Blythe crash in the horseshoe and when the checkered flag waved, it waved first for Blackwell. Expert Scott Reavis haa charged to second at the flag and Novice Willis took the show spot and Kevin Rentzell won the Unlimited Superbike and Middleweight Superbike titles and was third in Formula Two and Heavyweight Superbike. Novice title, with fourth going to Fillingham and fifth to Roos. With both Fillingham and Roos being Novices, the honor of finishing third Expert w.ent to Brad Lowe. "They were dicing it out," said Blackwell. "I tuned in my riding a little to compensate for the win. I wanted to hang back and see what they would do." Novice winner Willis said, "I've been chasing Frank (Fillingham) all year, so this (the win) was really fun." Saturday'S final race was the Formula Two Novice go and while rain was falling there was no apparent standing water on the track. Don't tell that to Harley- Davidson mounted Robert Ronchetto who fell while leading. David Hudson took the win and title on a Ducati 750, with Yamaha-mounted Bob Hanbury second, and Mota Guzzi 600 rider Blaine Paulus third. Sunday's opening race brought out the Formula Two Expert riders. Rentzelltook the lead and headed the field into turn one with Tunstall close behind. By the time they headed up onto the west banking, Rentzell and Tunstall were side-by-side at which point Tunstall's. Bimota 750 gOt the best of Rentzell's Yamaha FZ600 and motored away. Running third was veteran john Long on a Honda RS250, with Pete johnson fourth and Rob Mowson fifth. By the end of lap three Long had moved around Rentzell and appeared to be closing on Tunstall. Tunstall cut a 2:07.65 on the fourth lap but Long closed slightly. On lap six with one lap to go, Long cut a 2:06.25 but it wasn't enough and Tunstall took the win and the Formula Two title. Rentzell followed Tunstall and Long across the finish line, with Paul Smith, riding an Armstrong 250, fourth. Ducati 750 rider Pete johnson rounded out the top five. It was time for big bore machinery as the Unlimited Superbike field gridded. As in the previous race, it was Rentzell taking the initial lead, with this time around Dale Quarterly, Mike Harth, Larry Shorts and Bruce Nield chasing him. On the second lap Rentzell cut a 2:03.40 as Quarterly pulled off the track with mechanical problems. Rentzell then had Harth to contend. with and Shorts also closed to make it a three-rider duel. The race for fourth was also close between Mark Chin and john jacob after they dropped Nield to sixth. Rentzell twisted the wick on his Suzuki GSXR750 and cut a 2:03.31 on the fifth lap, and he appeared to have motor on Harth down the back straight. Rentzell led Harth, Shorts, Chin and Nield across the finish line to grab the win and title. The Formula Twins Expert race had the appearance of a full-blown Battle of the Twins event. Adamo and his new Ducati 900 led the field 9
