Faria got by Lucero before the end of !.he first lap but that was as far as he could gel. Faria put the heat on Chrisco while the latter tried to sneak by on the inside of Christian. Nearly taking top honors was Kawasaki-mounted Matt Arena, who's 3-\ performance wasn't quite good enough to unseat Rabe with a 1-2 score. In the first moLO, !.he long charge to the first corner was led by Rabe. Hot on his rear fender was Bruce Manzone (Honda) and it appeared that these two would battIe the whole six laps. Midway through the molO, Arena made it a three rider duel, and on several occasions, he nearly passed Mamone. Mamone pulled away whenever tney got to the long straightaway and Arena pulled up again in the tighter sections. Moto two found Arena asserting himself, Manzone tiring slightly and Rabe playing catEh up. The three from runners quickly pulled away from Brandon Baldwin and Alan Brunk. Try after try, Rabe couldn't get by Arena after putting Manzone into third. Both riders were on the throttle hard and made wild and wooly take-offs from all the jumps. The molO win went to Arena. The 250cc Beginner class featured some exciting races as Suzukimounted Bobby Moniz executed two come-from-behind moto wins. Action in the first moro involved Rick Alves, who grabbed [he holeshot, and Leon Frank in second. Though these two pulled away slightly hom the pack. they were not destined to finish the way !.hey were. Moniz was about fifth place but moving up rapidly. Moniz began to close on the leaders and picked them off. First he got by Fronk and then leader Alves. The second molO was another notso-perfect start for Moniz but a good one for Mike Terkelson and Frank.. Frank hung OIllO third place for the second time and ended up with a third-place overall. Moniz worked his magic 10 close and then finaJIy pass Terkelsen on [he last lap to take his second molO victory and the deci. sive overall. Results PEE WEE: 1. Terry Biel (Kaw). MINI BO BEG: 1.
