Michael Craig (3c). Bader Manneh (42) and Willie Surratt battle for the lead in the 125cc Pro division. Manneh finished second to Johnson. kept going," said Johnson. Johnson got through the turns in fifth behind Michael Craig (Yamaha), Manneh, Surratt, Lewis and Kiedrowski. Manneh and Surratt quickly passed Craig, then were joined by Johnson a few laps later. At midmoto Manneh stalled on the downhill, allowing both Surratt and Johnson by. Manneh repassed Johnson then Surratt. For the next lap the top three positions changed several times until Johnson was finally able to take control at the end of lap seven. Manneh still hung onto Johnson's tail, while Surratt began to fall off the pace. Manneh made several attempts to pass Johnson over the next few laps until he fell into a trap set by Johnson and went down. "Bader was pushing me pretty hard," said Johnson. "He was outside of me all the way around the sweeper before the mechanics' area. I knew what he was trying to do, he was trying to get me to push him out and then square me off (in the corner). I didn't try to hurt him or anything, but I had to teach him a lesson, so as soon as he tried to make his move to the outside of me I hit the brakes and he fell down." Manneh didn't lose his position after falling, but Johnson was long gone on his way to his first overall victory of the day. Honda-mounted Shaun Kalos led the first lap of the opening 250cc Pro moto before Johnson took command of me race. All that was left was a race for second, which Frank laid claim to after moving by Stanton and Kalos early in the race. As Kalos faded Stanton moved up and kept Frank in sight, butthat was all that he could do. Johnson won easily followed by Frank, Stanton, Watts and Bowen. Manneh grabbed the holeshot in the second moto, but once'again fell victim to Johnson's downhill charge on thefirst lap. As Johnson moved out Manneh went back. Frank was the first to get by, but a flat rear tire put him out a few laps later. Stanton was next to pass Manneh and he quickly pulled into a comfortable second. Manneh held onto third, but it wouldn't last for long as Watts and Bowen were fighting for fourth and closing fast. They got by Manneh late in the race, making the finishing order Johnson, Stanton, Bowen, Watts and Manneh. Watts jumped out into the lead at the start of the first 500cc Pro mow, followed by Frank, Brian Manley, Stanton and Honda-mounted Mike Bell. Stanton spent the first half of the race trying to get by Frank, and after getting by he began to close in on Watts. Stanton moved in right behind Watts with two laps remaining, but Watts turned up the gas and put a few bike lengths on him on the final lap to take the win. Simons stole the holes hot in the second mow and led for a lap before being passed by Frank. Frank and Simons pulled away from Manley, who had Bell on his tail. By midmoto Stanton and Watts passed Bell, and for the next several laps Manley was under pressure. The third position was swapped several times between these riders until Watts went wide in a turn, allowing both Stanton and Manley to get by. Frank maintained an even distance over Simons to take the win, while Stanton settled into third. Watts' drive ended when he went wide in the turn and he let Manley go uncontested to the finish. Grossi grabbed the lead at the s-rart of moto one in the Vet Pro class and never looked back. Jones started second but was reeled in and passed by Semics on the fifth lap of the eight lap contest. Semics was hounded by Jones late in the race, but held him off to take second. In moto two Grossi stole the lead from Jones on the first lap then cruised to the victory. Semics spent haH of the moto battling Paul Thede and when he got by Jones, Grossi went too far away to be caught. Neal led from start to finish in the first Mini Expert moto with Suzukimounted Jimmy Gaddis settling into second. Gaddis trailed Neal at me start of moto two before being passed by Winn on the third lap. Winn caught and passed Nealon the next goaround, but Neal fought back and regained the lead. Winn struck back within a lap though and took the lead for good, as Neal settled into second and cruised to the overall win. In the 500cc class, Brian Manley (25) and Tommy Watts dice for positions. Watts finished third overall. while Manley settled for fifth. Chris Neal flies his Yamaha to the Mini Expert class win over Suzuki rider Jimmy .Gaddis and Buddy Antunez. Neal topped both motos. Gaddis finished third in the moto and second overall. Third went to Buddy Antunez (Suzuki) with a 4-4 ta~ly. • Results 125 PRO: 1, Rick Johnson (Han); 2. Bakder Manneh (Vam); 3.
