TEri YEARS AGO ~ - .00 0") Kenny Roberts swept both the National and the 250cc Lightweight event at the Riverside, California road race round of the AMA/Camel Pro Series. Roberts beat Japan's Takazumi Katayama and Pat Evans in the National after LOpping Dave Emde and ·Yvon DuHamel. The Nation win kept Roberts mathematically in the chase for the Grand National Championship. Following the National, Roberts' rival Gary Scott claimed the 750cc Yamaha that Roberts rode to the win. lo-< V ,.Q o .... u o Husqvarna's Dick Burleson was the top American in the 51 st running of the ISOT in Zeltweg, Austria, but it was the West German team that took the overall World Trophy honors. The U.S. team finished 10th in the World Trophy division while the Silver Vase team wrapped up fourth place. Tom Penton described the trial as "Six days of motocross." Scotland's Alex George and France's Jean-Claude Chemarin teamed up to win the Bol O'Or 24-Hour Endurance race in Le Mans France. The duo covered 2009 miles on their factory Honda entry. American Pat Evans had qualified his Yamaha entry second for the event, but the bike was out of the running by the ninth hour. Christian Sanon and D. Boulom finished second. Roger DeCoster topped the Lake Sugar Tree/Pepsi Cola Trans-AMA results list in Axton, Virginia, to take over the point lead in the 10-race series. DeCoster put together a 3-1 moLO tally LO beat Marty Smith and Billy Grossi. In the 250cc Support class Rich Eierstedt won both moLOS to top John Savitski and Frank Stacy. DeCoster left Sugar Tree with a onepoint lead over Smith. Can-Am's Skip Olson nipped Husky's Bob Popiel by one minute at the second check to take the overall honors by the narrow margin of one point at the Indian Creek National Championship Enduro in Joanna, South • Carolina.
