VENTURA, CA, SEPT. 16 1-(800) 228-5249 or (714) 951-1962 The 16th season of speedway at Ventura ended much as it did last year as "F1yin' Mike" Faria won the 1986 Track Championship. In addition to winning the title for the third time in four years, Faria made ita sweep at the Commotion By The Ocean. He also was the track points leader and wbn the qualifier - 13 mains this year, an in all, not a bad record. Faria, however, proved to be human - he actually lost a race. In his first ride, Faria was outgated by Ojai 's Ed Castro and trailed the four lapper by four lengths. For Castro, it was revenge of sons after a s.ick engine the week before allowed Faria to make up 40 yards on the last lap and take the Handicap ma.in on the quaner mile track. Faria came back with four solid gates to win the rest of his rides, good for 14 points. "Showtime" Bob Ott, back in the groove agai n, had 13. orCal hot guy Jimmy Sisemore had 12 and 1980 Ventura Track Champ Bobby Schwanz had II. Faria clinched it in his final ride as he dusted off 1981 Ventura Track Champion Steve Lucero. Bakersfield's Ken Berry, a much bener Second Division rider than he was in Third Division, led the Division Two ma.in from stan-to-finish. Results C'SHIP: 1. Mike Faria; 2. Sob Ott; 3. Jim Sisemore. SECOND DIV: 1. Ken Berry; 2. Duane Blake; .3. Steve Furman.
