A GREAT SPORT DESERVES A Price rolls at Middleford ST By Woody Miller MIDDLEFORD, DE, AUG 14 New Jersey's George Price rolled over the competition in three classes during the latest round of the Delaware Short Track Championship Series, held today at Middleford Speedway. Price claimed wins in both the 125 and 250cc classes, and placed second in the 500cc division, to take over the series points lead in all three classes. Price made shon work of the 125cc class,leading £rom start to finish over Rob Smith, with Baltimore's Harold Dorsey taking third. . In the 250cc final, Price again led every lap, while Ray Collings and Mark Miller argued over second; Collings got the nod at the £Tag. Price's one-man, shon-track show ended in the 500cc final when Cam Banlett spoiled Price's hat trick. Bartlet led every lap, while Price had to work his way from sixth at the stan to just behind second-place rider Rob Smith on lap nine. The two riders went into turn three on the last lap side-by-side. Faria wins Ventura Speedway By Bill locey VENTURA, CA, AUG. 19' Flyin' Mike Faria, the current track champ and winningest rider ever at the Ventura Raceway, added yet another page to his substantial Tuesday night resume by winning round two of the U.S. National Qualifier series. Faria has won this race three of the four years since he moved south in 1983. In addition to being awesome, Faria was also perfect with 21 points and five wins'in five rides. J imlT\Y Sisemore was next with 19 points on a track he rode at least a dozen times this year. Ventura champ in 1980 and former Ventura shark Bobby "Boog-aloo" Schwartz was second to Faria in the main event and ended with 17 points after being granted an exemption for the opening round in Auburn due to World Team Cup commitments. John Cook showed up as a northern reserve but did not ride. In the main, Faria and Schwartz gated evenly, then Schwanz took Faria wide around turn two and Sisemore cut under both of them. Faria and Schwartz flew by Sisemore, who caught them again around turn three just as Rob Pfetzing ended his perfect night with a close encounter with the bales, and a solid 18 points. On the restart, Faria whizzed around Schwartz on the first bend, and couldn't catch Faria, as he scored his 50th win on a Tuesday night. Also notable was Bart Bast. Bast came in as the NorCal points leader, ending with an 80 or so point edge over Sisemore.
