The 1987 K75S features a sport fairing. "fat" rear tire. taut suspension. new rear disc brake. short handlebars. and a claimed top speed of 130 mph. Metallic pear-White paint and blecked-out parts highlight the '87 K1OORS. The K1OOLT comes with a full complement of specialized touring equipment. The 1987 BMW line features nine models in all, divided into three KIOO four-cylinders, three K75 three-cylinders, and three twocylinder R -series bikes. Three new models highlight the lirre-the K75S K100LT and KIOORS Motor~ sport. The $5950 K75S three-cylinder 24 is described by BMW as being Iheir entry in the "spon-tourer" market. The 740cc 1< 755 features a spon fairing and engine spoiler, new rear di c brake and a l7-inch 130/90H rear tire. Anention has been paid to the. suspension and during final development, BMW engineers honed down the -type's front su pension travel fro'm the 7.28 inches of other K75 models, w 5.31 inches. Similarly. The 5-lype's Monolever rear suspensimI wa filled wilh .a stiffer new spnng StrUI for Ihe K755. The handlebar is shoner Ihan Ihe slandard K75 bar by 3.5 inches. Filled wilh Ihe fairing and "belly pan" which reduce aerodynamic lift and drag at speed, the K75S yields a claimed LOp speed of 130 mph. six mph more than the Ctype K75. The KlOOLT four-cylinder carries a suggested retail price 'of 8950, as compared to the KIOORT's 8400, and for the additional 550 comes with a full complement of special ized LOuring [ea tu res. tandardequipmem includes a deeply-stepped dual saddle, multi-piece frame-mounted fairing, saddlebags, and a tail-mounted luggage rack and LOpcase. Incorporated into the lefl pockel of the KI OOLT's fairing is BMW's radio installalion kit. The kil includes all necessary wiring, waler-resistant dual speakers and an antenna. Also included as standard equipment is BMW's Nivomat rear shock absorber system that adjusts to load automalically. Other slandard features include engine protection bars, dual accessory electrical sockets and an alarm syslem. Finally, 10 insure that the KIOOLT lands OUI it is finished in a IWO-LOne paint scheme-Bronzil on Ihe tank and upper fairing, and Bahama Beige on Ihe lower fairing, sidecovers. front fender and saddlebags. The full range of amenities supplied'as slandard on the KIOOLT is also oplionally available on the KJooRT. The third new BMW for 1987 is the $8100 KlOORS MOLOrsport, dubbed While Lightning by the Bavarian manufacturer. The KlOORS Motorspon features the same drivetrain common to other KIOO-series bikes, but is distinctly finished in metallic pearl-white, its bodywork highlighted wilh pinstriping. The engine case, wheels, fork sliders and footpegs are blacked-oul. The remaining six models in BMW's 1987 lineup are carryovers from the 1986 model year. For 1987, the $8400 KlOORT continues as their basic touring bike and, to com plementthe new K75S, BMW continues with the much-praised 5400 K75C and the 5400 K75T. Also returning for 1987 are air-cooled twin-cylinder Boxer engines in the $4100 R65 and 4800 R80 models as well as the $6250 R80RT LOurer. •
