Tuttobene wins Tenino RR By Jane Steele TENINO, WA, AUG. 9 Oregon's Jeff Tuttobene once again dominated the action at the WMRRA paved oval roarl race held at Olympia-Tenino Speedway. Suzuki GSXR7S0 mounted Tuttobene, hot off his recenl Portland GSXR Cup victory, qualified with the faslest time of tbe night, then went on to post victories in the A trophy dash, the A heat and the main event. The B heat saw a very close race between Mike Sullivan, National #74, mounted on a Honda flat tracker, and Randy Grein on his Suzuki GSllOO Superbike. Sullivan got the better start and successfully fended off each challenge Grein made. Although this was Sullivan's debut to paved oval racing he posted the second fastesttime of the evening, broadsliding through the corners. Just before the main event, Tuttobene announced his race strategy would be "to get out ahead and stay there." But it wasn't that easy. Sullivan got the holeshot, but was overhauled by Suzuki GSXR 750-mounted Joe Davis after a little elbow bashing in the first corner. By the second lap Tuttobene also slipped past Sullivan. then out-horsepowered Davis to take the lead. Meanwhile, Sandy Brown was working his way through the pack on a Yamaha SC500/RZ3S0 hybrid, created after he destroyed his RZ motor at Portland the week before. On the 17th lap of the 20-lap race, Brown swooped around Scott Frericks and then stalked Davis. Brown pulled ahead in each corner, on Iy to have Davis motor away down thestraight. Buton the last lap, Davis was blocked by a slower rider, and Brown took second place. Davis held on to third. with Frericks and Sullivan rounding out the top five. Results MAIN: 1.
