But 8 he did smoke the 125cc Pros and split motos with Dave Newell in the 250cc Pro class. In round one of the 125cc Pros, Buchii led from start-to-finish pulling away from runner-up Keith Campbell by 21 seconds. Buchl; gated third in maLO two, as Chris McCrea LOok the lead. McCrea held on for two laps, then Buchli took over and easily won. When the 250cc Pros hi t the first turn in motoone, Buchli was in front of Newell. Newell dogged him all the way, but Buchli made no mistakes and nailed the win. Newell knew the holeshot was critical; while he gated second in round two, Buchli was back in fifth. By the end of the first lap, Newell was in the lead with Buchli closing fast .in second. The twosome ran as close as they did the first moto, but this time Newell made all the right moves. Buchli tried to stick a wheel inside at every opportunity butLO no avail. Newell popped over the finish line jump JUSt ahead of Buchli and took the overall. Results 60 NOV: 1. Dan Wienrank (Kaw); 2. The 500cc Amateur final saw one of the youngest and one of the oldest go at it like they were both ill' their prime. Charlie Southgate, fresh from his Senior class win, exploded into the lead with Huff and his Jacksonville Honda in tow, followed by Karl Meyer and Aaron Crockett. Southgate hasn't lost any of his speed over the years but Huff is a hard young man LO stay in front of as Charlie found out on the third lap. Meyer faired a lillIe belter with Crockett, but Crockett's high sliding style kept him close enough to slip by at the checkers for the third spot. Wymond Schleyhahn kept Tom SutLOn behind him for the fifth spot. The Pro-Am 500cc final was a full house and got a restart after four of the top ix riders tangled and went down in the third turn of the second lap. When the race got under way again it was a dogfight up frorn with Bertilino. Tim Best and Phil Jones rubbing elbows through the corners until Jones tried the slick high line in turn three and found a spot in the hay bales from which to watch Bertilino hold off the tenacious Best for the win and Robert Brooks kept Greg Richards at bay for the third spot. Reed Bertilino powered his Bertilino Produce Wood-Rotax to the Pro-Am win at the Clark Co. Fairgrounds when Lincoln Trail Mota-Sports hosted the 28th round of the 0-17 Dirt Track Series, their last half-mile of the seaso·n. Scan Huff led off the evening in typical fashion by warming up with a convincing win in the Mini class over Steve Hall. He came back-in the 125cc class to take the win but had to move through a large pack to get the job done. Tony Parkhill and Bart Schmulbach ledBrianStippandJim Gilliland into the first turn with Huff in LOw. The tbp four were battling for position as Huff proceeded to pick them all off lap after lap until there was nothing left to pass but the checkered flag. .The 200cc class provided an entertaing four rider battle for the lead that lasted throughout the tace. Early leader Jeff Chisham held on for almost two laps but gave way to the duo of Malt Collier and Troy Mischler. Mischler and Collier swapped the LOp spot for the rest of the race with Mischler holding the top spot on the lap' that counted, and Chisham staying in front of Terry Leffler for the third spot. Bart Schmulbach, Marty Volmert, Phil Jones and Shawn Wade provided the exci tement in the 250cc class at the front of the pack, as they reminded the crowd what side-byside racing is all about. The disagreement over who wanted to lead was finally olved at the checkers when VolmertroUed his Suzuki under the checkers first, followed closely by Schmulbach, Jones, Wade and Steve Shank. Les Schackman blasted his Honda into the400ccclass lead and proceded LO run away with the race. The fighting was mostly over second, but that Ingels was mited be.hind Sisemore I and Bast. On the start of lap three,.. both Kniss and Paulson got in a slide wide contest that collected Bast, Sisemore and almost Ingels. But it was Ingels coming out on top with the win in a wild one that saw Bast second over Sisemore and Delacy. Sisemore, Bast, Delacy and Ingels were all Scratch heat winners with the first semi another classic Bast! Sisemore matchup. Bast won with Sisemore aU over him while Ingels gated easily and won over Martin. Bast pulled the pole position with Ingels next to him, but at the gate it was a no contest start for Ingels who went off and hid over Bast and Sisemore. Vance Felicia topped the Division Two riders for the second time this year with Jon King in second over Mic Obradovish. Mike Kain visited the Division Three winner's circle for his second time in a wild and wooly affair that saw Chris Rudy hang on for second on the Jim Leonard special and third LO Larry Rose. The A &: A Racing Services rider doubled in both Handicap and Scratch main events, repeating his featoflast week. The Scratch win was pretty much a give away with another patented SLart, but the Handicap was a thriller from start LO finish. Former Junior Speedway champ SCOll Brant returned to the northern California scene and won the opening heat race, despite still being only l7-years-oId, while Mike Solis held second over Mike Delacy. Jim Sisemore won the second heat over Jeff Kniss and Steve Martin.
