guaranteed. Motorcyclists are vinually "on the bubble" for the November election. If your readers are nOl already registered to vote, tell them to do it now. If they have a real interest, tell them to get out and work for the candidate of their choice. If they are interested in working for Ed Zschau, contact the Ed Zschau for U.S. Senate Commiuee at P.O. Box 85, Los Altos, California 94023-0085. I would like to be able to say on November 5 if Cranston gets reelected it wasn't because we didn't try to stop him. ROBERT RASOR AMA Vice President Government Relations Westerville, OH Wanted: MZ manual I have a 1969 MZ, a German-made, 25Occ, single-cylinder din bike. I am trying to find an owner's manual for the bike. If anyone can supply one, send it C.O.D. MICHAEL ABBO'll 14382 Rios Canyon Rd. EI Cajon, CA 92021 Nice guys I would like to publicly thank all the fine people at Strick's Cycle Shop in Asheville, Nonh Carolina, for their warm and friendly hospitality. While on vacation, I was in desperate need of a front tire for my Fjlloo. Mary and Gene Strickland took the time and efforts not only to locate a tire, but to also make a special trip to their distributor.'Thanks also to Greg Peek, in Service; by using his equipment I was able t save time and money on tbe change. The price was fair and the service excellent. If anyone is ever in the Asheville area, please stop by and say hello to the nice people at Strick's. JOHN A. DiOBILDA Coatesville, PA On the bubble We have followed with interest the indignity tbat California riders have expre sed regarding Senator Alan Cranston's Senate Bill 2061. As you know, Cranston's "De en Protection Act" would virtually eliminate most of tbe riding opportunities in the California Desen. The excitement and alarm that they demonstrate is definitely warranted. We have received many copies or correspondence sent to Senator Cranston in response to the mailing we made to AMA members. His usual reply letter is now common knowledge among California riders. My question to them is: What arewe doing besides writing to Cranston and writing to ourselvesr Hey, Cranston is up for reelection in Novemberl We can nail this guy if motorcyclists put the same sincerity in their actions as they have into their letters. Undoubtedly, Cranston's opponent, Ed Zschau, needs some campaign volunteers. Let's put our time and energy where our "mouths" are. If Cranston is reelected, the chances of Senate Bill 206 I 's passage would increase immeasurably. If the Democrats take control of tbe U.S. Senate in ovember, 2061 becomes nearly Esteps to the rescue While returning home from a nigbt Camel Pro half mile race at Parkersburg, West Virginia, my headlight went dim and my engine quit. I was out in the middle of nowhere, and not too sure how to solve my problem. I decided to flag down the next fourwheeler and see if I could get a jump start. To my surprise, it was National number 64, Don Estep. His dad got out their ponable generator and charged my battery for awhile, and said he would follow me to make sure I made it to the next town. At the city limits, my engine quit again. Wbile my battery was recharging, Don's dad went through all the wiring in my headligbttrying to bypass a suspected short. Even though the problem wasn't solved, he did get me going again so that I could make it into town, and ride home tbe next day without the need of my headlight to drain my battery. It was late at night, they were tired from an evening of racing, they had a good ways to drive, and yet they stopped to help me twice! Not only i Don a good rider, the Estep family are great people, and I would like to thank them publicly.
