Now that's Greenwood bags SIRMXwin By Jay Marcell KE T, WA, JULY 25 Round II of the SIR MX Series produced some heated action in the 250cc Expert class. In the first mota it was Issaquah KTMsponsored jim Pittman pulling the holes hot with johnson Honda's Mike johnson running second. Continental Cycle's Wayne Dixon and Tacoma Yamaha's john Hodges battled for third. Pittman went down and fell back to last while johnson took over the lead ahead of Hodges and Dixon. By the last lap Pittman had worked his way back LO third and challenged Greenwood for second, taking that spot behind moLO winner Pittman. Hodges barely made it to the staTting gate in time for the second moLO. He had broken his front wheel in the first moLO and borrowed a wheel from Jay Marcell's 125. When the gate dropped it was Greenwood in the lead, followed by Dixon, Hodges and Pittman. Dixon took the lead away from Greenwood but Greenwood edged him out for the win at the finish line as Dixon almost lost it trying to pass. The opening moLO of the 125cc Novice class saw Mike McMillan grab the lead ahead of Bellevue Honda's Marcell, Doug Leach and Federal Way Cycle Center's joey Belshaw. Leach went down on the first lap, moving Belshaw into third and Marc Duran into fourth. McMillan, who had won the first qualifier, and Marcell, the winner of the second qualifier, took off in a duel of their own. McMillan LOok the win with Marcell second and Duran taking third over Belshaw. In the second moLO it was Duran pulling the holeshot but he went down in the first turn and Marcell LOok the lead, followed by Belshaw, McMillan and Sean Finney. With Marcell out front to stay, Belshaw and McMillan diced for second with McMillan gelling by, but LOO late LO catch Marcell who took the overall win. FAST.
