Merkel and Dunlop Set Superbike
Record at AMA National Road
Race Championship (Mid-Ohio)
Lexington, Ohio - August 2 & 3
Fred Merkel started fast and finishe
the fastest with Dunlop as he set a new
track record of 40:47.97 to win the
Superbike competition at the AMA
National Road Race Championship.
. In the Formula I, 500cc event, Randy
Renfrow rode Dunlop radials to win first
place and in the process clinched the F-I
Championship.
Dunlop tires finished first again as
Gary Griffith won the Formula II, 250cc
event. But despite Gary's win, it was
Don Greene who clinched the F-II
Championship for the third year in a
row on Dunlop.
Team Hammer put Dunlop in the
winner's circle once more as they edged
out the competition to capture the 8th
Round of the AMA U.S. Endurance
Race Series.
Congratulations to Fred, Randy, Gary,
Don, Team Hammer and all the riders of
Team Legend, the fastest growing team
of champions who ride and win on Dunlop.
