Casey Cycle City rider David Newton was the only rider in the Four Stroke class to go all seven laps but the race was not a runaway. Keith Cox and Chris Main stayed within striking distance of ewton all day but had the mi fortune of not settling the race on the track when they got on the wrong side of the clock. ewton managed to beat the cut-off time by seconds and was sent out for another lap while Cox and Main were left scratch'ing their heads for the next two slots. Action was close and fa t in the Super Senior class. Kawasaki rider Charles Brammer pulled the holeshot and hit the trail with Bill Edmundson and Husky-mounted Stan Norris in hot pursuit. By the end of the first lap, Edmundson had the lead while Norris moved within a shadow's length as Brammer dropped back to third. When the checkers fell after two hours of racing, Edmundson held a seven-second lead on Nor. ris. As the series approaches the halfway point, only nine poims seperated the two riders. Out of Texas 1 (800) 972-1119 MARIO ,KY, JULY 4 White bests Virgina HS By Rider Writer COLOMBIA, VA, JUNE 22 Aller missing one event due to injury, David White charged back to form on a 250WR and took the sixth round of the Rocky/BeIIlHallman/Meueler/LubridynelTexacolAXO-sponsored Virginia Championship Hare Scramble Series. The 250cc class was first into the woods with White taking advantage of no dust at the front. With White chasing the overall, Roland King, Bricky Hughes and Marty Hensley put in an early fight for the d".. win. Midway through the seven-lap event, King managed to pull some breathing space as Hughes and Hensley bashed bars for second with Hughes getting the nod. Afterwards Hensley said "Once Roland got away. Bricky and I had a real battle going. Brinky's a Kood rider; I enjoyed it." In Open action, R.j. Faddis nudged his 350cc KTM into high gear and had his sites set on White. As White sailed clear on the start, Faddis had to eat the 250s dust as he picked off riders one by one to come within seconds of snatching the overall. When questioned about his recent performances after having won the last series round, he answered, "I've been riding at least once during the week and my riding has gotten better because of it." Behind him, KTM-mounted M. Hoover and Cycletronics Husky- Denne Williams provided the fireworks by winning the 250cc and Open classes at Western Kentucky Compeition Rider's Association's Marion short track. David Lamb came up a wheel short in both classes to earn second. Williams grabbed the lead off the start of the 250cc final with Lamb tied to his rear wheel. They put ground on third-place finisher Greg Fri tz and Bret Gale. Lamb tried a last tum move by going in high but came up a few feet short of Williams at the line. Williams had the hot hand again in the Open class, as he hit the back straight in front. The Lamb brothers, David and Scott jammed in behind him with Greg Fritz, Donnie Dunbar' and Roger Talley bumping for position. David Lamb tried another lastlap desperation pass but still came up short of the winner Williams. Scott Lamb held for third with Dunbar and Talley filling out the top five. Scott Lamb took control of the 200cc start and couldn't be caught as Kevin Woodruff, Kyle Long and Jackie Brown chased him to the flag. Results AUTO: I. Jenny Hayden (Yam); 2. J_n Goodwin (Yam); 3.
