Powers crashed, but got back up before Duncan caught up, but Sweetland had pulled away and held a 1:05 lead after two laps. Back in the dust, but second on time (52 seconds behind Sweetland) was eventual250cc winner Gwin Vaughn on the Hassayampa Cycle Supply/Sims-backed Husqvarna 250. Powers regained second overall on the t/lird lap as the front-runners moved into the dust and tra££ic of slower classes. Powers fell a few ti mes on the last lap, and Vaughn nearly caught him, ending up just eight seconds back at the checkered for third overall. Paul Bennett was three minutes back for fourth overall after running second at the end of lap one, then clicking off three slower but consistentlaps within eight seconds of each other. The 37-year-old Expert was aboard a Honda. 500 for only the second time aftee years aboard European marques. Fifth overall was Open Expert Pat Prosser, who worked his way up throughout the race. Price triples at Middleford ST By Woody Miller SEAFORD, DE, JULY 3 Georgie Price remained undefeated in the Delaware Short Track Association's Championship Series with three wins today at Middleford. Price edged out heat winner Rob Smith for the win in the 125cc class . and in the 250cc class Price held o££ a determined Roy Collins for the win. Diamond MotoSports' Mark Miller took third over former Pro rider Carmen Visalli rounding out the top four. The 500cc class saw Price again battling this time with Rick Winsett. At the end of 10 laps, it was Price taking the checkers for the third time in the evening. Winsett held onto second over Rennie Dail, with Tom Magie taking fourth. Results 125: 1. Headtakes Granite Mogul Trial By Tim Walker NORDEN, CA, JUNE 29 Scott Head started the Donner Ski Ranch series off with a win_ Scoring a six on the first loop followed by ones on the second and third loops easily gave him the win. Kip Webb gave Head his closest competition to finish second with 18. Dive Belvoir and Matt Pritchard battle for third. Belvoir scored the show position dropping five less than Pritchard. Paul Webster, returning to the trial wars after recovering from back surgery, finished a well-deserved third. Ex-Pro motOCTosser Danny Turner mounted on a new Beta from Mike's Cycle of Placerville romped to the Amateur win. Ten points separated Turner from GregCadde. Matt Head was a distant third with 62. Lloyd Ogan also Beta-mounted carded the Novice gold. Local resident Ralph White edged past Curtis johnson by three for second. In the Senior divisions Ken Marecek lOpped the As while Bob Overton did the same to the Bs. Fran Webb brought home the first place trophy in the Ladies class.
