Paso was the only one in existence
and the two Indianas, (Jown in direct
from Italy, had never been tested
prior to arrival, according to Cagiva
. representatives.
Both machines are powered by Desmo Ducati V-twin engines; ''..e Desmo
engines use rocker arm .0 open and
close the valves, instella of relying on
springs to close the ·.alves. The same
basic engine pov "rs Ducati's range
of models, in v....)'ing displacements.
The 74&c Paso engine and the
649.6cc India' ,a engine share the same
61.5mm stro .e, but the Paso has an
88mm bore and a 9.3: I compression
ratio compared to the Indiana's 82mm
bore and 10:J compression ratio.
The Paso puts out a claimed 75
bhp at 9000 rpm and 52 Ib.-ft. of
torque -

The indiana was also stable, but
test riding of that model was halted
when one machine's single IO.2-inch
cast-iron front disc overheated after
four hard laps on the Laguna Seca
road course and broke.
Production models of the Paso
should, be on sale in January for
about $6000. The Indiana is also
slated to go on sale in January, for
less than $4000.
