All around the track, fans were on their feet cheering as Paul Shaferrocketed to wins in both motos of the 125cc C class at Hideaway Motocross. Shafer's parents congratulated him afterwards with great enthusiasm, since the win earned him enough points to advance to lhe B class. "That's exactly how I wanted to leave we C class," Shafer said. Admitting he was more than a Iitlle excited, he said he would probably change his number plates as soon as he got hamel Shafer was challenged throughout lhe day, however. Twice he almost crashed in lhe whoops and even strayed off lhe course slightly during one trip through them. It was unintentional and did not improve his position, 0 went unprotested. Chasing Shafer's Kawasaki were David Allen (4-3), and james Lloyd (3-4). who took second and third respectively, on Hondas. Another crowd-pleasing race wa Ihe 250cc A class. Robert Huston again improved his chances for the track points championship as his 2-2 finish were good enough for first place. Kenneth Messerrnan'sfirst-.tum fall in lhe first moto prevented him from finishing better lhan fourlh. He made up for it by winning the second with ease. Messerrnan said, "Well, my wire is expecting, so I figured I better get the lead out before I retirel" The lead was certainly out; he scorched the track in both motos. Taking hird wilh a smooth 2-3 day was Kevin Baker. The three top brands were KTM, Suzuki and Honda, respectively. A crowded 80cc Senior B class saw Keith Banta take the holeshot and keep the lead in lhe first moto. He had to wrestle his uzuki up two places on the last lap to win lhe second. Joseph Flynn looked a bitshakeybut took second with a 3-2 day on a Kawasaki. Christopher Enyeart grabbed second in lhe first moto, but could only manage sevenlh in the second. Nonetheless, that put him into lhird overalJ. Pierron Reasner had a big day in his first 80cc race, taking early leads but finishing second. Despite being a Ii ttle small for the bike, Reasner held off David Arnett for several laps in holh motos before Arnett outbraked him and got by. Certainly Reasner proved that he can race in the 80cc junior class, but until he grows a few inches, his friends will still call him "Pee Wee". Reasner was more at home on his Kawasaki KX60. He rode it to beat jonathan Lloyd in the first moto. Lloyd was determined and outpaced Reasner in moto number two. Both youngsters showed finesse and finished substantially ahead of thirdplace Scott Arnetl. Results 50: 1. Scan Miller (Honl; 2. Shawn Gutshall (Vam). 60: 1. Jonathan Lloyd (Kawl; 2.
