IS awasa I, appea~e to"he.abJe to hold 0(£ Mark Hardey's Honda, but on the last turn of the last lap Hartley won by a bikelength. As the field hit the first turn in the main, all nine riders were tied together. Hardey had a slight lead over Honda-mounted Robert Lewis. On the second lap Ray West moved by the opposition for second and then started his chase after Hartley. West tried the inside for three laps. Then on the fifth lap he went to the outside, hitting the boards eve.rytime he came down the main straight. West would get a wheel out front on the back stretch as the full house cheered the tight twosome on. They came into turn three on the last lap and West went into the lead, but Hartley came back. They crossed the line together but West, front wheel in the air, was declared the winner. It was too close for this observer to call from the announcer's booth. Robert Lewis watched a great race from his third-place finish. Moto one saw Kevin Poole grab the lead followed by Summers and Randy Carrier. Summers pushed Poole in the first lap to crash over the whoops and drop to third while Carrier moved into second. Carrier went down, and Poole stretched out a lead for a short period. Summers started closing in on Poole by the fourth lap, as he squeezed by on the inside, while Poole gased it to regain his lead. Summers went [or another pass over the ant hill to take the lead and eventual win with Poole taking second and Carrier back to third. Carrier returned for the lead in moto two with Poole in second and Summe.rs down to third. Summers quickly worked his way around Poole to move in on Carrier and take the lead. A race developed for second between Carrier and Poole. Carrier tried to hold 0(( Poole but Poole went by on the inside to take over second, while Carrier slowed for third. The 125cc C class saw Scott Whelan chased by Dale Blan and Mike Yates. Blan stayed on Whelan's rear wheel, while Yates dosed in on Blan through the whoops with Blan blocking his moves. By the start of lap four, Yates moved into second through the stutter bumps. Yates closed ground on Whelan, to steal the win in a lastminute attempt. Whelan gased it in the first turn to hang on from start to finish for the second moto win. Yates battled for position with Chris French. Yates, unable to catch Whelan, took second with· French third. • BeIt-OII i.ulln. no RIOds. • CoIIIpIete kit, i;d;illloil _Is ... farII tulles.
