By Todd Kroh GREENE, NY, MAY 31 John 'Boggie' Lewis has been waiting a long time to circle the Action Park East track with the Division One Scratch main event flag. He finally did it this week at the expense of Bruce Nelson, Dale Wakefield and George Lazor. With clouds rolling in and thunder and lightning in the sky, Lewis received his wish. Earlier in the evening Lewis went down in his Handicap semi final race and appeared to be injured, but that has never stopped 'The Boggieman' before. He returned just two races later and won his Scratch semi transferring to the main. Lewis fired out of the pole position and led Nelson, Wakefield and Lazor into tum one. Nelson pressured Lewis waiting for any mistake but Lewis held a tight line, not allowing Nelson to stick a wheel underneath. Each successive turn Nelson would inch closer and closer, letting Lewis hear the high revs of his Godden, which was glued to his rear wheel. Sometimes just the sound of a competitor's engine will cause split second lapse in cocentration, just enough to gain an advantllge. But Lewis kept his eyes forward watching for the checkered flag. Wakefield and Lazor waged their own war for third with Lazor trying the outside and Wakefield riding the blue groove. Wakefield won the fight taking third place. The rains came momentarily as the Handicap main got underway. Jim Nabinger became the fourth different winner in as many weeks as the Handicap main continued its tradition of exciting close competition. Nabinger has displayed consistency, making every Handicap main this season but has never come away with the victory. You could sense he wason a roll as he dominated his Handicap heat and semi, holding off the likes of Ted Fey and Lazor before appearing in the main. When it came showtime, Nabinger proved he would not be denied leading the entire race wire to wire. Len McBride, starting with Nabinger on the 10-yard line was his closest competitor finishing in second place. Steve' Watson, .the previous week's winner, was in third followed by Bruce Nelson, Dale Wakefield and George Lazor. Damien Cornwell, might just be putting together a -string of division two main event wins. He has now won two in a row and his confidence level looks to be high. When you see his smooth style and riding technique you forget he's 14-years-old and has a ton of speedway ahead. Cornwell finished second to Marshall Shunk in his heat ace but in the main, he bested Chris Rudy, Shunk and Damon Lengle. Results DIV I: 1. John Lewis (Wea); 2. 8ruce Nelson (Gdn); 3. D.1e Wel
