Stephen Holten (89) took 8n e8r1y le8d in the second 125cc C moto 8t Sendhill. followed by Steve Addington (8) 8nd Mike F...ylick (17). 38 Being the only front runner to clear both sets of double jumps, LaRocco gained time on the leaders. He then used the doubles to pass Roth for second and a couple oC laps later flew by Wagner for the motO win. 'Roth beat out the charge to the first corner in moto number two with LaRocco hot on his heels. LaRocco pushed Roth throughout the entire motO, but a last lap slide out gave Roth the advantage and the motO win. LaRocco claimed the overall with Roth second and Wagner rounding out the top three. . The l25cc Junior class saw, Yamaha-mounted Joe Subat pull the holeshot, but Subat fell in corner number two and Jeff Beckington and younger brother David took command of the com peti tion. Gary Geiger and Ron Phipps moved to third and fourth places. Although the racing was fierce, riders held their positions to the checkered. David Beckington aced the start of the second motO Geiger and Subat trailing. After a mid-pa.ck start, Jeff Beckington charged to second by the second lap and set to reel-in his brother. The charge put the brothers a good 15 seconds ahead of the pack. After a strong chase, Jeff Beckington took over the lead on the last lap to claim the win for the day with David BeckingtOn taking second and Geiger third. In I25cc A action, Roth dialed it on to claim the lead with Robbie Taylor, Larry Whitmer and Jeff Beckington in hot pursuit. Taylor went down and Beckington passed Whitmer for second during the first lap. LaRocco also crashed on the first lap and charged from last to third by the end of lap three. Roth, Beckington and LaRocco finished the race in that order. Roth took immediate charge of moto two with Don Lines and Robbie Taylor in tOw. Roth stretched out a comfortable lead as Lines and Taylor held on to second and third. LaRocco dropped out with a flat tire and BeckingtOn moved up to fourth before the moto's end. Roth aced the class with Lines second and BeckingtOn third overall. Jay Wagner claimed the holeshot in the first Senior Mini class with Greg Adent charging in second and Richie Depew in third. Depew moved past Adem for second and Ron Phipps was in fourth. Wagner and Depew held onto first and second, but riders in midpack provided plenty of action. Phipps passed Adent, but crashed soon afterwards losing one place. Then Adent went down moving Phipps back up to fourth. Phipps then began to gain on Donnie Poole but tumbled again. Finally Poole went down too, moving Phipps back to third at the motO's end. In the Mini final, Wagner developed an early lead followed by Poole and Adent. Overall honors went to Wagner, Depew and Adent. Results 125 A: 1. Mike Roth (Yaml; 2. Don Lines tHonl: 3. sc,. MAY 25 Kawasaki of Aiken riders were in full force at Sandhills MX witha 1-2-3 sweep of the Senior Mini class as William Mutimer led teammates Tracey and Stacey Barnett to the overall win. Barr's Competition's Mutimer and Brian Rice led the first moto until spills dropped both riders back with Tracey Barnett picking up the win. Mutimer battled back to take second from Jim Neese while Stacey Barnett was fourth over Rice. MotO two was Mutimer's from start to finish while Stacey Barnett won a three-way battle for second over Tracey Barnett and Neese with Honda of Augusta's Rice once again fifth. Mutimer's 2-1 locked up top honors over Tracey Barnett and brother Stacey. Barr's/Fogle Electric's Carl Fogle struggled with the sand in the first Junior Mini class motO but came back to win at the flag followed by Jeff Hensley and Chuck Shirley. Fogle had a clean start in the second motO and romped to the win over second overall finisher James Hardy and Shirley. Chuck Shirley returned for a sweep of the Pee Wee class over Richie HortOn and Tilden Styron. One of the day's best races was the second l25cc C class motO as Georgia's Stephen Holten led first motO winner Steve AddingtOn and Mike Fraylick off the line with Richard Lewis and James Broach next. The top three pulled away in a tight battle for the lead. Addington then gave up second to Fraylick. Holten looked strong and was a sure bet to win until he slipped over a berm and dropped to third. Fraylick ignored the last lap charge of Addington and took the win. AddingtOn's 1-2 score was good for the overall win over Fraylick's 3-1 and Jason Koenig's 2-5 tally. Kevin Walker took an easy second motO win in the l25cc Bclass to wrap up the overall ahead of Joel Grant and Greg Templeton. Grant won the first motO but a slow start in the second motO left him wiht no chance of catching Walker and he had to settle for second. Templeton gave Grant a good run, finishing a close third over Timmy Langdon. Joel Grant left his competitors in the l25cc Schoolboy class behind in both motos for the overall win followed b Chad Coleman and Scot Lorick. Mike Privette powered his Honda to wins in both legs of the Open Amateur class while Dan Gregory's 4-2 score topped Arthur Swift for second. Tim Terry turned two good starts into wins in the combined 250ccl Open A motos over Brian McNeill and Mike Myers. McNeill stayed close to Terry for the first half of the second moto but couldn't get a wheel past and was forced to watch Terry scamper across the finish line ahead of him.
