The I25cc race was won by Luca Cadalora (Gar) with Jorge Martinez (Der) taking the 80cc win. The team of Egbert Streuer and Bernard Schnieders (Yam) won the sidecar class. Eddie Lewson now hes 57 points and leeds the 600cc World Ch.mpionship SUlndinga; Wayne Gardner is second with 39, followed by 4 Kawasaki's Georges Jobe won the overall in the West German round of the 500cc World Motocross Championship in Beuern, West Germany on June 8. Jobe's 2-2 tally beat Andre Malherbe's (Hon) l-!I and David Thorpe's (Hon) 4-1. In the championship title chase, Thorpe's 156 points leads Malherbe's 140 followed by Geboers's 121 and Kees van der Ven's 116. A I6-year-old girl and her 18-year-old boyfriend were robbed while looking for their car, parked in a neighborhood several blocks from the Los Angeles Coliseum, following the Saturday night, June 7 Superbowl of Motocross. When the couple followed one of their assailants into an alley in attempt to recover the girl's purse, the resulting incident saw the girl shot to death as she and her boyfriend attempted to flee. Following the tragedy, race promoters Stadium Motorsports Corp. issued a statement from President Jeanne Sleeper, which read in its entirety "Stadium Motorsports is deeply saddened by the death of a spectator after last Saturday's Supercross. Miss Suzanne Coleman had left the stadium following the event and was assaulted in a nearby neighborhood, apparently by someone not associated with the race. The Los Angeles Coliseum is the birthplace of Supercross and has hosted many prestigious sporting events, including the Olympics.
