swapped back and forth with Harris coming out on LOp at the checkered £Jag. Lucas grabbed the lead in the second moLO with Harris right on his rear fender. Lucas had trouble and t;lropped a few positions while Harris took over and the Honda of Ed Downing picked up the chase. Lucas worked his way back up but Harris and Downing finished ahead of him. Bradshaw also won the Open Expert race and with WNYSC rider Austin winning the 12Scc Expen class. Stork sizzles at Borderline MX lapped several riders, which proved to be a problem not only for the two leaders, but also for the lapped riders. Chris Rader daned past Goodell and raced him to take the far outside line of the track, causing Goodell to lose muchofhismomentum. When Jensen tried LO do the same; Goodell snuffed him, giving Dale Ruggles the opportunity he needed to get around Jensen.Ruggles then stalled on the doubles and Jensen almost got by. By this time, Stork had found his way back around Berry for first place, and Jensen motored by Ruggles as they both zipped by Goodell. Berry began to gain on Stork, but when he wobbled, Stork pulled ahead to win the moto. During the second heat it was Jen en who took the holeshm, but he went down in the first corner, handing the lead to Berry. Pursuing Berry was tork, Goodell, Rader, and Ruggles. Goodell soon found it too difficult LO fight off Rader and Ruggles, and the pair slipped by Goodell into third and fourth. Jensen fought his way through the pack, dicing it out with Jim Winchester. By Mary Hanson RAPID CITY, SD, MAY 18 WISECO SALUTES WINNER OF THE TEAM GREEN SPRING NATIONALS AT HIGH POINT RACEWAY Bill Stork walked away with wins in both the 250cc and Open A classes at the Borderline Racing Association motocross Shay wins Salem Supercross held today at Rapid City Fairgrounds. In the Open Adivision, Stork pulled the holeshot and remained unchallenged throughout both motos. Stork went on to take the overall win. In round one of the 2S0cc A class, SLOrk pulled the holeshot and was followed by Danny Hanson, LeeVern Berry, and Danny Hendrikson. As Stork pulled away from the pack, he left Hanson and Berry to battle fpr the second place position_ Berry tried desperately LO get around Hanson, but was unsuccessful; Hanson kept slamming the door in Berry's face. Berry waited patiently and continued LO pressure Him on. When -Hanson wobbled after coming off the doubles, Berry sLOrmed by LO take over second place. Though Berry put on a tremendous charge. he wa unsuccessful in catching LOrk. Berry settled for second; Rob James, Hanson, and Hendrikson rounded out the top five. At the stan of the second moLO, the lineup off the gate was much the same. Stork took the holeshot and was followed by Hanson, Berry, and Hendrikson_ Berry shot past Hanson LO pursue Stork. but was unable LO catch him. SLOrk finished first, Berry took second, James was third, and Hanson finished fourth. In the first moLO of the l2Scc A class, Berry took the holeshot, followed by Stork, CliJ)t Overman, and Glen Goodell. When Overman crashed, Goodell moved inLO third place, and Scott Jensen took over fourth place. Berry and Stork opened quite a lead on the rest of the pack, and remained unchallenged as they diced it out for first place. Approximately 190 riders showed up to test their skills on the rugged COUT e. Shay grabbed the lead 'from John Ruper as he cut across the field just after the first turn. The duo was followed closely by Todd Richards, Rodney Gabrick, Mike Boggia and Harold Robison. Ruper followed Shay for three laps, then crashed, making way for his Brunswick Suzuki teammate, Harold Robison, to take over the number two spot. The three-way battle for second heated up between Robison, Rodney Gabrick and Tim Deutsch. Deutsch, who had worked his way up from a seventh place start, grabbed third from Gabrick. Robison and Deutsch, battled lhe final two laps for second with Robison holding on. Shay finished with a 12second lead on the pack. Ken Frankenberry took first place honors in the Senior one class, winning both Jhe qualifier and the final. Harold Dahringer followed Frankenberry for the entire main event; the two riders battled for first while pulling a six-second lead on the pack. John Gallagherfinished a solid third. Blaine Duecaster and Bill Lower fought for lhe fourth spot, with Duecaster taking the checkered flag ahead of Lower. Eleven riders took to the Irack for the l2Scc B class race.
