Goldsborough top Mom at Dade MX By Ben Sanders DADE CITY, FL, MAY 10 A field of the world's top racing mothers convened upon the Pasco County Fairgrounds for the annual Dade City Raceway World Championship Mother's Day race. The pre-race (avorite was defending world Mother's Day racing champion "Savage" Kay Sybert, but (ierce competition was expected (rom Denise "The Dive-Bomber" Goldsborough. The race's scheduled start during intermission in the regular Dade City Raceway program was delayed to allow (or late entry "0011Face" Dot DeVance to make it to the starting line. With all the contestants on the line the tension was high as these normally mild-mannered mothers of racers put on their own race (aces and prepared to go hog wild into the first turn. As the gate dropped "Savage" Syben pulled off ahead of the pack on her KX80with Goldsborough's YZ80just behind. Goldsborough pulled one of her patented "Dive-Bomber" passes to take the lead and never looked back, cruising on to win her first-ever World Championship, while Syben was forced to setLie for second. While the two frontrunners battled (or the lead a ferocious struggle (or third was going on just a scant few feet behind them between the '''O'Show'' joyce O'Brien, judy "Banzai" Bishop, and Sharon "Bulldog" Ballard, all Tri·Zinger mounted. O'Brien finally won out, taking third, with Ballard and Bishop just behind. The action didn't stop there, however, as Elaine "Leapin' Lane" Grunewald was just able to hold 0[[ the mad charge of "jamming" jeannie Carmichael at the checkered £lag. After a brief battIe with DeVane, Cycle News correspondent Athie "The Axe-Lady" Sanders managed to bring her XR80 in (or eighth overall, with DeVane claiming the ninth spot before bailing badly in the exit lane and Special Rates Send Check or Money Order To: WHK Enterprises, P.O.
