Turner guns down Asc~tMX By Mitch Friedman Garcia. GARDENA, CA, MAY 2 Ron Turner just keeps on winning at the Continental Motosports Club (CMC) Dodge Trucks Ascot night motocross. He traded molO wins with David Graff in the 125cc Pro class, but claimed the overall. Then Turner also won the 250cc Pros with a 2- I tally. In the first moto, John Conney led the way over Turner (Yamaha Pro Support/Terry Varner Racing/Bellflower' Yamaha/O'Neal USA) and Tim Rutherford. By the end of the first lap, Turner had passed Co.nney and Graff had moved up lO third ahead of Rutherford. Conney fell in a slow turn on lap two, dropping to fifth. Graff, now in second place, set his sights on Turner, and on the next lap, set him up for a pass coming out of the turn before the TT jump. On the white flag lap, Turner tried to regain the lead, but had to settle for second spot in front of Rutherford. Moto two again saw Canney grab the lead with Turner and Graff on his rear tire. Turner got by before the end of lap two, as did Graff. Graff dove under Turner in the turn before the finish line, but Turner got back past in the start-area whoops. Graff tried to repass, but fell, dropping to sixth place. On the last lap, Graff had moved up to fourth, but ran into Rutherford and dropped to fifth behind Chris Boice (O'Neal USA Honda), who was taking his first rid~ 3:s a Pro. Turner led the way to the f!Dtsh line, with Conney second and Ru~er ford (AXO/PJIIYokohama Tues/ Tommy Bolten/ArailFMF) third. Mike Pascarella led the way in both motos of the 80cc Expert class, with Steve Kotasarvi second. In the 80cc Intermediate class, Rusty Somers was the initial leader in malO one, but was passed by Jeff Grafton on the last lap. Somers came back to win molO two over Kevin Bussy and Grafton. Invited TIn PIPE PROTECTORS Gregory, Wiley wild at Newport SX By Clay Light NEWPORT, OR, MAY 3 Dan Gregory (Taylor Honda) and Jon Wiley (Newberg Honda) went absolutly wild in Supercross action at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Newport on the Oregon Coast. Gregory grabbed wins in both 125cc C Division Two motos while Wiley walloped the l25cc Division One with 2-1 rides. Dana Anderson (Honda) was the fastest rider in attendance and came away with lOp 250cc B laurels after posling 1-) rides on his 125. The first 125cc Division One mota saw Vancouver, WashinglOn's Scott Mobley push his Kawasaki to the front of the pack leading Brody Anderson and Wiley, who motored through traffic on lap one to settle into third. Anderson displaced Mobley lO take over the lead on the next circuit and quickly pulled away, leaving Mobley and Wiley lO swap it out for second which went Wiley's way at the completion, a Quarter-lap back of Anderson. Mobley took a third with John Simmons and Hondamounted Chris Olexiwicz nabbing fourth and fifth at mota's end. Moto two had Wiley take the lead out of turn one and held off vain advances from Anderson to take the molO win as well as the overall via his 2-1 performance. with Anderson grabbing second brass (1-2) over consistent Mobley (3-3).
