Mike Boggia, working his way up from 11th place, passed Brian Doran and Fletterick on the last lap to take third place. Early in the moto, Tim Deutsch on a Yamaha of Warren/May's Towing 250cc was battling with Honda-mounted Tony Boyas. As the two riders flew over the table top jump, they collided in midair with Deutsch landing beneath Boyas' bike. Deutsch was momentarily stunned but was able to walk away from the crash.
