Wade moved by Carter and brother Ron Wade took ad van tage o f th e situa tio n 10 move Carter a ll th e wa y back 10 fourth . Huff took th e runaway win with Shawn a n d Ron Wad e seco nd a nd third a nd Tom Sutton moving in to take fourth . APR. 6 Larry Ward (Kawasaki) took the holeshot in the first l25cc Pro rnoto, followed by Steve Oster (Kawasaki ), Jamie Munso n (Hon da) and Chaun McAl ister (Yama ha). The first three rid ers pulled a way from the p ack and Ward a ppeared 10 have an ea sy vic tory, until Ost er closed at the fin ish to take second by jus t a few yards . Munson wa s safe ly in th ird with McAl ister fourth. Ward aga in took th e hol eshot in th e seco nd rnoto with Munson a nd Oster beh ind. Oster fell ea rly in th e mot a , giving th e first two riders a big lead . T he lead ers battled for the wh ol e ra ce, but Ward never made a mi stake, as he held on for victo ry. Edd ie Wickward (Kawasa ki) led Mike Larson (H o n da) a n d Jamie Munson (H o nda ) in the firs t 250cc Pro moto. Larson wast ed no time in taking th e lead and stretchin g it out all the way to th e £lag, while Wickward crashed on th e first lap. Oster (Kawa saki) moved into second with Mun son ( Hon d a) in third. Ward (Ka wasa ki) crashed early in th e mot a , and th en h e reall y go t on th e gas, almost ca tch ing Munson a t th e chec kers. Great Western Honda 's Keith Watso n cha lked up his fir st win of the series in the Open Pro/Am class over Series point leader Robby Neeley while Michae l Fann dominated the Pee Wee and Junior Mini classes. Suzuki Corral's Mike Andrews never let G erald W~ get too clos e in th e firstl25cc Pro/Am mota wh ile Larry Andrews co u ldn ' t shake Aaron Bollinger for th ird . Boone Honda's Boll inger swept past and finished third with a high-£Iying Mark Ashworth dropping Larry Andrews to fifth at th flag. Wood equaled Mike Andrews pa ce . in th e second rnoro but Andrews n ever faltered a nd took the win. Bollinger once again put in a fine ride, ch arg in g through the pack for third over Seth Tharin a nd Mickey Whetz el. As th e 250cc Pros exited turn one it was Andrew s o u t front chased by Mike Crawford, Gerald Wood and Mark Spriggl e. Andrew s qui ckl y esta blished a lead with seco nd up for g ra bs between Crawford and Wood. Steven Smith made it a three-way battl e for seco nd but Crawford held to ug h for th e pos itio n with Wood third over Smith. Wood and Lance Eubanks headed th e pa ck in rnoto two until Andrews sh owed up and snagged the lead from Wood. Keith Watson followed for second but a quick sp ill dropped him back to fourth. " My wrist popped and th en I slid down ;" sa id Watson , who was suHerirrg from a broken wrist. Wood returned to second but Andrews was gone with Crawford taking third over Wats on and Smith . MORRIS, PA , APR. 13 Tim Coombs made a triumphant return to action Sunday at the opener of High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. Coombs, who had been sidelined for nearly two months with injuries sustained in a Florida crash, showed no signs of his vacation, sweeping all four motos in the 125 and 250cc Expert classes. In the 125cc class, Coombs fought early with younger brother Davey. before pulling away for the win. Davey faded late in the moto and was nearly passed by Emery Anden and Bo b Pe tr ick . When the yo unger Coombs was a no-show in moto two. the other Coombs had to fight with Anden. The fact that Coombs and Anden ra n off with the mota was somewhat of a shock, because neither had competed on a I25cc motorcycle for over two years. In the end it was Coombs at the checkers. with Anden seco nd for seco nd overall and Bobby Petrick third. Petrick' s first 250cc start ever also was surprising; th e Pennsylvania rider
