Pritchett tops Pros at Mosier By Marc Jenkins EULESS, TX, AP R, I I Honda-mounted Chris Pritchett go t his first Expert overall payday with strong rides and a little he lp from Lady Luck at the Mosier Valley Night Track today. In rnoto one, Paul York got away first followed by Pritchett and Scott Brodrnax, York and Pritchett pulled away with Pritchett shado wing York's every move, By the halfway point, York showed Pritchett who's the boss and had built up a sizeable lead. With one lap to go, York slowed suddenly after discovering a flat rear tire a nd a gear box stuck in third. York limped across the line in first, Pritchett took seco nd with Tim Sil en ce a distant third. In mota two, York couldn't answer th e bell lea ving Pritchett, Silence and Brodmax battling for the lead. By la p two, Pritchett had got out front with Silence pressuring. With one la p to go Silence went down trying to make th e pass for first and at the checkers it was P ritch ett , Si lence and Brodmax. In the l 25cc Begi nners, a lways a Friday night favorite, moto one saw Mike Ritter out firs t with R o ber t T ayl or and Steve Barto n in pursuit. Meanwhile, th e rest of the pack were bouncing over the track. On lap three, Taylor bobbled heading by Barton and Steve Franks to set the finish order at R i tter , Bart o n and Franks. The Nevada chapter of the Over the Hill Gang laidouta National-caliber event with on ly th e best prepared to last the gruell ing 100-mile race . In th e Expert ra ce , Brown jumped au! to an early lead, foll owed by en d u ro sp ecia list Duke Dowell an d hi s KTM . First 250 on hi s Nevada Motorcycl e Speci alties /Hi-Point KTM was Da vid Porter ahead o f seco n d 250cc rider R eno Kaw as aki/ Hi-Paint 's Mark Nason. By th e end of th e fir st of six laps, Brown had dropped back to third with Honda rider Lance McPhee (H iPoint ) leading th e wa y, followed by Husqvama rider Eddie Diaz. Things tightened up during th e second lap wh en th e leaders encou n tered a bottleneck through a rock y canyon . The leaders muscled th eir wa y through with Diaz taking o ver th e top spot, while McPhee fad ed wa y behind with a flat tire; Brown was taking it easy in second plac e. During th e fourth lap, a number of things happened - Diaz dropped out with bike problems, whil e Porter (after taking over the lead ) dropped ou t for the same reasons. This gave the lead back to Brown, followed by McPhee. As th e ra ce co ntin ued , Brown held co m ma n d , while Dowel and Vet Expert Chester Martinrnaas moved into second and third .
