tees' (Arthur Bronson, Lindsay Conner, Wallace Albertson, Marguerite
Jackson Hudson, Monroe Richman ,
Leticia Quezada, Harold Garvin and
Susanne Spillane) are the people who
will decide this issue. If you are concerned about the phase-out of MOlOrcycle Repair you will have to write a
polite note and send it to 617 West 7th
Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017. Eight
copies of one note with all eight
names on one envelope will work
and be very effective.
.
I have personally addressed the
Board on this issue twice and received
a note of encouragement from Trustee Harold Garvin. Recently , the
Board has taken one of my suggestions and changed the fall semester
starting date lO September 8. Out of
four instructors teaching Motorcycle
Repa ir a year ago , only two are still
teaching the program. We have decided lOstand up and right to defend the
program. Richard Sherer has an article in the May issue or Rider magazine. We bo th are financing advertising to bolster our rail enrollment. We
will have 20 students returning next
rail to compete the program and presently have 10 students on our waiting list. If new students are allowed
to enter I am confident that total
enrollment will exceed 50 students
for Motorcycle Repair when the rail
semester begins.
Unless favorable public support is
shown immediately the Motorcycle
Repa ir classes will not be listed in the
rail catalogue. The program has the
support of the faculty and the administration on our campus. Our funding, unfortunately , is directed by the
district office, which is controlled by
the Board of Trustees. As with all
elected officials, they only respond
when public support is recognized.
Don't hesitate to write even if you live
out of the state or California as many
of these people have national political ambitions. If you attended TradeTech and benefited from your training, your letter is very important and
will carry a lot of weight. Remember,
we are a California Community College and any resident can attend Ior
only $50 per semester.
If you are an active Advisory Mern- .
ber, you will be receiving an invitation
to attend our Master Advisory Breakfast on May I. It would be politically
wise lO take advantage or this opportunity as a representative from the
District Office will be present at Los
Angeles Trade-Tech for this occasion.
