Mot ocross Pa rk here Sunday. The an io n was very intense and a stro ng field of competitors were o n hand to try to ta ke the trophies ho me. In the 12Scc A class, At kins, on a Kawa sa ki, o utra n Scott G ru bb o n a Cycle Wo rld Yamaha . T he race wa s not w ithout inci dent when S teve Sh in leve r o n a Yamaha wen t fo r it a ll and en ded up cras hi ng o ver a tall jump. T his a llowed Cl a yto n Mo yers to ta ke o ver th e lead. H o wever , the fir st moro wa s won by Grubb. In th e seco n d rnoto, Atkins pull ed o u t a n ea rly lead a nd never looked back to win th e o vera ll. Robbie Campbell won th e o vera ll in th e 2S0cc class. In th e fir st moto, Campbell (Ya ma ha) a nd Steve Shinl ever battled for th e hol esh ot. When th e dust clea red o n a bo u t th e fifth jump, an d halfway arou nd th e tra ck , it wa s Sh in leve r holding down a sma ll lead . Brent Cole (Ya maha ) a nd Neal Ca p ps raced for th e third posi tion with both ri de rs pulling a wheel o n th e o the r across th e jumps and tu rns. T ha t wa s decid ed when Capps and h is H onda crashed; Cole went o n to ta ke third overal l. On openi ng n ight a t IM S, H ick s (Milne Bros. Weslak e) took the Seco nd Division main event and looked so good in doi ng it that h e wa s bu mped up to Secon d Division last Wednesda y. In h is heat ra ce h e came o ff the 10 a nd made it look eas y for his fir st win o f th e night.
