Dillon YamahalKTM's Joe Wood holeshot, with YZ490mounted Gary Yearsley holding close by. Wood and his 500MXC pulled away over the whoops, but Yearsley would catch up to him in the rough. A short ways behind them, Hi·Point rep Leroy Smith berserked his way up to third. TakingoverforWood, "Madman" Mike Anderson felt a beavy dosage of adrenalin and blitzed ahead on his own KTM500 MXC. UnIortunately, the dosage was a bit too heavy and he bailed himself a good one. Gary Tuller, Yearsley's partner, and Myron Davis, Smith's partner, dueled for the lead. In the end, though, Davis stayed in front, with Anderson getting back by Tuller for second. North Carolina's Jim Chester was Muddy Creek's top Pro today after winning both motos in the 125 and 250cc Pro classes Gerald Greene had charged up through the pack and was rewarded with a second-place finish. Chester led the second mota from start to finish. Chris Brewer ran second for half the mota, but Greene and Branch charged back towards the front dropping Brewer to fourth. Greene and Branch had a close finish, but Branch took second. Ron "Wirehead" Jones dominated Open Pro racing, winning both motos. He led each race from start LO finish, leaving the racing for second. Mike Eads put in an excellent ride the first maLO, easily taking second place over his brother Jeff Earls. The second moto, the Eads brothers again battled over second wi th Jeff having the upper hand this time. Mike fell on lap two, allowing Jeff an easy second-place ride, while Gerald Greene moved up to finish third. Senior Mini rider Mike Brown smoked his competition as he won both motos by wide margins, leaving second place LO Chad Powers. The 250cc Amateur class provided intense racing because several riders were capable of winning. Chris Littleford led early in the first mota, but Chris Wilson took the lead halfway through the maLO and held on for the win. Tim Jennings charged through the pack LO finish second. The second moto, Littleford again got the early lead, but Jennings moved from fourth to first during lap one and went on to take the win and the overall. Vick Dyer won the first mota of the Open Amateur class by leading from start LO finish. The second moto, David Farris led the first lap, Jerry Har-mon passed and led at the end of lap two. Farris retook the lead, but Dyer moved by both and led to the end for the win. • with style. The first 125cc maLO he passed Robert Von Smith and Eddie Branch during the first two laps and pulled away LO win. The second mota Chester got the holes hot, but Branch pressured trying·to get the lead. Chester made no mistakes and took another win. Larry Harrison took the holeshot in the first 250cc Pro mota, bu t Branch took the lead before lap one was haH over. Branch pulled away but Chester moved through the pack and into the second SIOL Midway through the maLO, Chester passed Branch over the tableLOp jump, but Branch retaliated in the next turn.
