HUSQVARNA CONTINUES OFF-ROAD DOMINATION Dan Smith ra a ~ Terry Cunningham and friend accept the trophy. course imo one which was eminently rideable and free of bottlenecks. The result was a barrage of praise for the emire layout from riders at all skill levels. With Harold Barton at the helm, the club wem about the task of organizing the run while using 100% private land. Among those on the layout crew was Jimmy Garmon, himself a past Cherokee overall winner and SAE& TRA series champ. And while Garmon wasn't able to compete in the run, which was also part of the SE&TRA Championship EnduroSeries, 1984-85 SE&TRA Enduro and Hare Scrambles Champion, Allen Gravitt, did. After sharing row 38 with Cunning.ham, H&H KTM-supported Gravitt was well within the top 10 overall with a score of 32 points and went home with the Overall A trophy. Australian Geoff Ballard, once again "back in the USA" for a season of off-road competition, cut his tightwood teeth at the Cherokee in 1984. "It was the first enduro I rode in the U.S.," recalled Ballard, "and I thought that I'd better learn how to ride the tigh t woods if I want to be competitive we don't have anything like this back home. These guys always do such a great job laying out their enduro, and to think that this enduro hasn't been a National before this year is a joke. And from the enduros I've ridden, this one today was the best." • ~. METZELER Husqwma Motorcycle Company 4925 Mercury Street San Diego, CA 92111 Husqvarna THE FINAL STEP UP Results OVERALL: 1.
