The second moto saw Leddy and Millan both gOlng for the holeshot as they raced handlebar to handlebar down the straightaway, Millan was forced to back off as Leddy had a better line through the turn. Curry got by Millan for econd, and Robert Godfrey and Kent HOLSon of Moto Madness from Jacksonville, Florida on a Yamaha rounded out the top five. Curry no e-dived under Leddy on lap three for the lead. At the checkered flag in order it was Curry, Leddy, Millan, Godfrey and Mays. T. benefit By Jane and Daryl Drake SCOTTSDALE, AZ, MAR. 2 Andy aum brought his Yamaha in first again, thi time at Central Arizona Trials, Inc.'s Trial des ation Benefit ride held in the desert north of Scottsdale, Arizona. Saum turned in a score of 35 for three trips around Ihe 10-section loop and a 21-mark margin over Todd Roper(Yam), second at56. Just one mark back was Bob Pennington (Hon) for third. Nearly 60 riders turned out for this trial, with the Novice c1as taking most of the new riders. A portion of their entry fee and proceeds from shirt ales will go to the Trial des Nations Fund to help send the U.S. team to AusLria this year. Advanced riders rode the same sections as the Experts, but were offered some easier lines. Bob Till (Yam) was firstat62, Mike Carlton (Yam) econd at83, with Greg Pascal (Yam) third at 85. Steve Bigler (Yam) took the enior Advanced Lrophy with an 83, while Joe Ige (Yam) had some troubles to finish second at 107. Intermediate, Novice, Beginner and and Junior rider took the morning slot, also running three 10-section loops. Jerry Tate (Yam) scored a 23 for the lntermediate win over Jim Hunter (Yam)29, and Mark Makarov (Hon) 50. Dave Montgomery (Yam) was fourth at51. Senior Intermediate John Lenon ( WM) had a good day as well, turning in a 40 to beat George Naidl (Yam). 72, handily. The top two Novices will be moving into the Intermediate ranks after their fine rides. Eric Curtis (Yam) turned in a 16 for first with Tom Witt (Yam) second at21.1V!ark Konietzka (Yam) took third with a 23 and Will Terrick was fourth at 25. Only 12 points separated the top nine Novice, mahng for a careful la t loop. enior Novice Jim Barcus (Yam) was back in style, holding off Gary Smith (Bul) for the class win with a score of 33 to 39. Craig Reimer (Yam) was third at 52. Lauren Pond (Fan) and-Mike King (Yam) had a good battle for the Beginner win. Tied going into the last loop, Pond took it with a 12 to King's 15. And in the Junior division, David Klatt(Yam) only dropped four marks to put away the competition. Lee Pennington (Yam) was way back at 29 for second.
