Shewn Moren end Rich Sweeney et the Coors Spring Cle••ic .peedwey race in Coate Me... entered were past SETRA Champions Alan Gravitt and Daryl Kuenzel' as well as Michigan's Rick Scharpehorn. The race was held on a clear but cool day that saw over 270 riders leave the start. The promoting club, the Columbia Enduro Riders Association, provided a course consisting of six sections that included tight trails, fast whoop-de-do sections, and a motocross track that doubled as a spectator point. Long resets were provided at the end of each section that enabled almost all riders to get back on time. The only problem of the day came in the third section when the clock on the out check was found to be inaccurate and the check had to be changed to an observation check. Hawkins' 10-point ride was good for a two-point win over former AA rider Kuenzel'. Action in the other classes was heated as many northern riders on the way to Daytona Spee
