R .. a ~ . SPEEDWAY FROM ASCOT Mike Melton (Hus) took third place AA in the Sandlapper enduro. Many l25cc Experts were back for the 250cc contest. Moto one saw Peterson in the lead as the first lap closed, with Ontario, Canada's Rick Tripodi and McCullough close behind. McMillen started sixth but quickly took the fourth spot from Yamahamounted Rick Shafer. McCullough made a move on Tripodi for the - number-two spot, and Shafer diced with McMillen till McMillen got fired up and moved from fifth to second in one lap. Positions were set for the checkered with Peterson holding McMillen back for the win. McCullough, Reyner and Post rounded out the top five. The second 250cc Amoto, McMillen flew into the lead, followed by Shafer, Peterson, Post and McCullough. Peterson and Post got by Shafer, who dropped way back to finish out of the top five. At the checkered it was McMillen earning the overall with his 2-1 rides, Peterson (1-2) second and second overall, Post, McCullough, earning third overall via his 3-4 tally, and Chris Reed fifth. McMillen tried a tri pIe class sweep that almost panned out. In the lead for most of the Open money contest, McMillen began to show signs of fatigue, and Post took advantage to fly by and hold McMillen back till the checkered. McCullough took third.
