T h is even t is th e seco nd o f th e 1986 season for the So u thern End uro Riders Associat ion (SERA) and was held o n Na tio nal Forest Land in th e Red , Creek Wildl ife Man agerneru Area nea r Saucier, Mississippi. T he wea ther was perfect for th e even t. slig h tly coo l a nd o verca st. There were 306 riders en tered in th e event whi ch cov ered 79 miles wit h eig ht speed cha nges a nd five resets. The co urse was set u p to take poi nts from th e AA riders a nd still be fu n for the average riders . Two 26mph sectio ns . o ne in the m iddle o f th e run and o ne a t th e en d, took p o ints from a ll th e rid ers . Everyo ne really had a good time. Husq varna rider Gary J o hnston took th e overa ll win wi th a sco re of 3/ 178, wh ile Darrvl Bell a t 4/ 191 ca me in seco nd . No lan Kn ight a t 4/ 207 and David J ordan a t 4/ 2 18 were right behi nd. Th e only co mpl a ints heard were that th e a rro ws were few a nd fa r between, a nd tha t check point 'two had so me scor ing problems. Wh en as ked if th e arrows were p laced in th e cr itica l areas, th e a nsw er was alwa ys yes. Wh en a n arrow was needed , it was th ere. A pro test was filed agai nst check two , an d the referee ru led against th e protester. Two days la ter the spe cia l appeals co m m iuee ov ert ur ned th e referee's decision and th e SE RA po ints had to be sco red a ga in . So m e of the riders made o u t good with the rescoring. T h e riders w ho got ca ugh t ridi ng earl v a t th is chec k, a nd th ere were q uite a few , had th eir ea rly points rem oved.
