Works Honda VFR750 uses 32mm flat-slide Keihin carbs with a neat rod
linkage between banks. Carbs are fed by electric fuel pump.
(Above) Honda wants their 1986 Superbikes to look as stock as possible,
and the VFR750 looks the part with standard glass and paint. Wheels are
even painted white. Note quick-release, pivoting front-axle clamps.

VFR750 race engine has non-standard cams, pistons, steel-billet rods,
steel valves and carbs; rocker arms and other parts are standard. Radiator
is aluminum; special self-generating ignition system incorporates coils to
charge battery used to power fuel pump. Note exhaust system bends.
Works Showa forks have scribe
marks at top to aide tube-height
adjustments; low-speed and highspeed rebound damping is independently adjustable, as is compression damping. Forks incorporate anti-dive system.
Honda Racing Corp. makes its own
cast magnesium wheels; the
Superbike carries a 3.50-16 front
wheel with 12.2-in. steel-withiron-lamination discs and fourpiston Nissin calipers; fork tubes
are 41.3mm with no brace.
