Mitchell tops Cadiz HS By Jesse Thomas CADIZ, KY, JAN. 26 R o u nd seven of the Mid-South Winter Hare Scram bles Series was won by Tony Mitchell after a hard-fought ba tt le with 1985 200cc Nationa l H are Scrambles winner Tony H endon , who retired after lap three with m echanical problems. The 131 riders who turned out on Superbow l Sunda y were hungry for racing. Weather forecast ers had predicted zero-temperatures by even in g, a n d sn ow fell o n a n d off a ll day , However , due to th e warm temperatures for m ost of J anuary. tra ils were in near-perfect co nd ition. A two-trail co urse had been laid o u t for th e co mpeti to rs. T he top seven classes rode a six- m ile A trail a nd th e two-trail riders' classes rode on a five-mile B co u rse. Each lap th e two trail s came back toge ther at th e sco ri ng barrels , th en sepa ra ted aga in into th e wood s. This wa s done as a test fo r th e u pcom ing Moonshine Nation al Hare Scrambl es. The 200cc class saw so me good racing today, with points leader Kent Stanley aga in holding off th e competition a n d to tak e cla ss honors. Team Green MX .rider Mike Morris finished in the secon d spot with Kevin Carr takin g th ird . Another good race was th e 250cc class between Ken Joyce, Marty Rittenberry a nd Je sse Greer.
