Vice President for Professional Ra cin g Bill Amick rep ort ed on pl ans for 1986, in cl udi n g th e foll owing: -Th e Camel Pro dirt tra ck series will inc rea se from 21 to 23 events a n d mov e into four new mark et areas. Purses will in crea se by $100,000 a nd th e Camel point fund will increase fro m $140,000 to $150,000. - Ca mel Pro road races will in crease fro m eigh t to 10 events an d a new Ca me l point fu n d will in crease th e mo ney available for road rac ers from $35,000 to .$100,000. -In addition to ser ies-w id e purse increases fro m $1.2 million to $1.5 million , a new Camel Challenge Cup fund will offer $25,000 to th e overall to p rider, a m o u nt in g to a to ta l increase o f 2 1%in purse and p oint fund monies ava ilable to th e rid ers. -Supercros s p oint funds o f $ 100,000 fro m Nipponden so and $ 16,000 from Castrol will in crea se earni ngs in both I25cc a nd 250cc classes, with $40,000 ea rmarked for non-factory riders. -A poor medica l insurance loss ra tio d uring 1985 will require a 35% increase in premiums during 1986. -M a ny Camel Pro road ra cin g ven ues will incorporate rounds in the AMA/CCS U.S. Championship Endurance Series . - A new rule-ma king p ro cess during 1986 will emphasize participation by ri ders and other interested p arties wh o do not h ave an opportuni ty to serve on adv isory co mmittees and esta blish a semi-annual meetin g ca len da r aimed at more advance p lanning. Am ick and You ngblood described th e Associat io n 's drug testing program in professiona l racing over the pas t decade, and reported on a legal review of developments connected wi th drug testin g in other p rofes sion al sports. The trustees co m m ended Ami ck for h is reorga nization o f th e pro fessional racing division.
