Florida's Collins held the second spot and waited for a Hollis miscue that never carne. Hollis was unable to tell who was behind him as all th e riders were black with mud. While Collins locked up second, Canadians Sirois and Shane Drew were knifing through the pack from last place. I wouldn 't be ra cing this year without h is su p port," In an excitin g I25cc B co n test, Ca nadia n J amie McLean, Michigan 's J ohn Kitsch a nd Tennessee's Kenny Kizzar took turns leadingand getting stuck in th e deep ruts, Kizzar'sYamaha led every lap but th e one that counted when Kitsch's Barr/American Comp Ka w a sa k i finally pulled ahead. McLean sa id, " I p icked a bad line a nd , aft er that little error, those guys were just too fast to catch." Greg Cecil came out of retirement to lead R ick Perry, Dan Crawford a nd David Ind iveri in th e 500cc B mota. Cycl es of Long Wood-sponso red Crawford said, " 1 th ink Greg got tired out there today. I took the lead on th e whoops and tried not to fa ll after that." T ommy Ferry took th e early lea d in th e 85cc 7- I I contest, but buried h is Yamaha in a bad rut and was passed by Brock Bu llard. " We both got stuc k and passed each other a co up le of times during the moto," sai d YamahaiGear/Scott-sponsored Bu llard , " Dadcha nged toa lo rer sprocket a fter pra ct ice and it helped."
