Australian Jeff Leisk (Hon), Erik Kehoe (Suz) and Phil Larson [Yam] swept the 125, 250 and 500cc Pro classes during round two of the CMC Golden State Nationals at Sand Hill Ranch in Brentwood, California, January 12. Leisk went 2 -1 , edging Kehoe's 1-3 tally in the 125s, while Kehoe went 1-4 to nip Ron Lechien 's 3-2 score in the Round three act ion in th e Flo rida Winter AMA ;\IX Seri es at Brooksville on Sunda y. Chuck Springsteen and Garth Brow split main event wins in the second and third rounds of the AMA Professlonal lndoor Ice Racing Series in Danville and Peoria. Illinois, on January 10-11 . Springsteen (Hon) took the Danville win over Dave Knapp (Hon) and Mike Rhoads (Hon) while the top poi nt scorers going into Danville, Brow and Ed Morris, both crashed in the main. Brow bounced back in Peo ria to w in the main followed by Springsteen and Morris; Brow st ill holds the po int lead over Rhoads. Yosh imura Research and Development of America is posting a 1986 National contingency program for AFM , WERA, MRA, OMRRA and AAMRR club races . Use of a Yosh imura exhaust in the modified 750cc class will qualify the rider for a $250 contingency fund. The top three using a Yosh imura pipe will be paid $125 for first, $75 for second place, and $50 for third . In addition, a Yoshimura Challenge Cup Race will be held at the WERA National finals at Road Atlanta in Georgia, on November 7 -9 and will feature a $5000 purse. Negotiations are continuing between Mike Baldwin and Yoshimura R&D of America and Baldwin has agreed in principle to ride a Yoshimura Suzuki in the upcoming Daytona 200 on March 9. Although no contracts have been signed, the one -race deal could be Baldwin 's only U.S . race in 1986; Baldwin is set to ride in Kenny Roberts' Lucky Strike 500cc Grand Prix team in 1986.
