Wh en the ga te dro p ped on mo to o ne, Bryan Hayes charged into th e lead on h is br and- n ew KTM , but crashed hard on la p two, ha nd in g th e lead to Chappy Blose on his Ca sa G ran de Suzuki . Blose led Pa rk er and J ames George u n ti l la p four, w hen Parker mo un ted a charge 10 pass Blose that carried the two leaders aw ay from th e rest of the pa ck. Blose h ea rd Pa rker knocking and sh u t th e door hard on lap seven , but Parker kicked it back open on lap eight and wen t around Blose . Parker took the win with Blose in second, SCOIl Da vis th ird and George fourt h. Ha yes holeshot moto two with George a nd Blose in tow . Blose passed Georg e on la p one, while Da vis took over third . Blose got aro und H ayes by lap two , wi th a n anx ious Pa rker look in g for day ligh t back in fifth . H ayes' finish was good enough 10 capture the Open Expert crown, while Bobby Wh ite a lrea dy had his 250cc Expert cha m p io nsh ip sewed u p . Sparks £lew when the 250cc Amateu rs hit the track and moto one saw Steve Davis grab the h ol esh o t o n his Maxi ma-sponsored KX ahead of Chris Rogers' Bell Road Ka wa sak i. Rogers tried several times to pass Davis, but it was a wast e of time a n d effort a s a charging J oe Marziano took h im out o n la p two. Davis tried to h ol d off Marziano.L ut Marzia no took over on lap fo ur. Da vis was n 't ready 10 give up a nd came a longside Ma rzia no's Western Engravers ' Ya maha lookin g for the righ t line. When th e chec kered Ila g came o ut o n lap six , Davis and Marziano were still side -by-side, bu t Marziano roo k th e wi n by a hai r. Da vis got seco nd ah ead of J eff Smi th and Tonv Ross.
