Zirbel zaps Green at Clark County ST - Motorcycle World with Larry Huffman By Derryl Anderson it RIDG EFI EL D, WA, NOV. 7 Marty Zirbel , aboard the Lo u Kinnish Triumph/ Adam 's Cycle/ Ch aney's Au to Body/ T own Center-sponsored Yamaha, took the big mo ney to night at the Clark Co u nt y shan track. Zirbel's O pen Pro wi n came a fter Iierce co m pe tirion from Ran d y Green (Woodland Hon da ). G reen grabbed the holeshot in th e fi rst mo to a nd led every lap bUI th e one tha t co u nt ed - th e last. In the wes t corner of th e track, Zirbel, on the last la p , snuck under Green to win the mota, followed by Rya n Fisher (Ya m) and Tricia Lyo ns (Yam). Long-ago Sidewinders ' sensation Ra y Ca rrol (T ri) made an appeara nc e to n ight, ridi ng with the youngsters in th e Open class. T he second and final mota saw Zir bel pull a ter ri fic hol esh ot o n Green, follo wed by Ro n Wat ers ( Ha n ), Ra ndy Roose, Mik e Su ll ivan and the rest of the pack. Roose and Su lliv a n bo th moved by Wat ers, a nd du ri ng th e n ex t lap, Su llivan went by Roo se. Zirbel' s Tri umph seemed to hook u p pe rfec tly as h e ex tended h is lead o n Green. At th e £lag it was Zirbel, Green , Sullivan, Roose, Fis her, Lyons a nd Carrol. T he 50 and 60cc classes gal a muchnee ded increase in riders tonigh t. Hig hl ighting the co m bined classes was motocross sta ndo ut Jason McCormick, wh o grabbed the lead a n d ran wire-to-wire. Behind McCormick was Mike Felly (H a n) ; Coby Porter (Ka w) a nd Rya n And erson ( Ka w ), And erson, with a n a iling bik e, was a ble to gel by Porter and Felly , but by th en , McCorm ick (Kaw) had 100 great o f a lead. T he finish order went McCormick, An derson , Feuv and Po rter. The second moto was almost a ca rbon copy of the first. McCormick (Eastside Motorcycles) again took the race from sta rt 10 finis h . Anderson ha d to get by Felly a nd Po rter before selling after McCormick. Anderson closed on McCormick slowly bUI there wasn' t eno ugh laps left as the duo p assed th e ch eckered flag, fo llowed by Fe lly a nd Porter, w ho swa p ped posi tions tw ice a lap the whole race . Beh in d the m was th e trio o f Na th an Bo urla nd , Kevin Eak in a nd J oshua Lynn (Wee Pee Wees), Su ll iva n led the first heal of 250cc P ro s o ff the line wi th Ron Adams in second a nd J erry Otto (Ya ma ha East ) sq ueezi ng underneath for th ird . Billy Tay lor wen t by Otto a nd began push ing Adams , trying to ge t by everywh ere.
