LaPointe was within stri ki n g di slance of Milligan when he cr ash ed as his from wheel washed out th rough a n o ff-ca m ber turn . The Yamaha rider recover ed quickl y enough to retain seco n d but lost a lot of time to th e leader. Once again LaPoime had to turn o n th e afterburners and reel in Milligan. Once again , Gonsalves blitzed into the lead at th e start of the seco nd moto ahead o f Steel e, Guil es and J ason Gibson. As th e rnot o progressed , Gonsalves began pulling way , .wh Jie Steele put di stance betwee.n himself and Guiles, who wa s feehng h eav y pressure from Gibson.
